i am in colorado springs and my 302 is really old and tired i was wondering where i can get my engine rebuilt for a good price, maybe if someone has done it before or gone through these people. thanks

And are you wanting to do it yourself? There is a machine shop over just south of the Citadel mall that the guy is a Ford engine builder. I know he is the guy who did the machine work on mine 7 or 8 years ago, I forget his name but I can find it if you want to build yourself. Otherwise, get in touch with Don Alison at the bone yard, he can give you a good name or two.

coin isnt a huge problem what i want is no real big monster from it 300 hp is good enough i dont wanna be one the trail and run out of fuel do i. my 16 month old and my 4 month old dont let me go to crazy on rockcrawling but the love to ride

I put a new motor in my Bronco this summer.

My original 302 had already been bored .030 over so I didn't want take it to .060. The heads on mine were the original 1970 pre-unleaded heads and I wanted to replace them with more modern heads. So I decided to switch motors, not just rebuild mine. After allot of searching I decided to buy a rebuilt (and thus warrantied) long block.

I borrowed an engine hoist and engine stand from a friend and pulled the motor, then stripped it down to the long block (block and heads only).

I used the long block as a core to get a newly rebuilt long block here in the Springs. It cost $1200 including an upgraded cam for better low end and fuel economy. The builder gave a 1 year warranty on the block.

I put the parts all back onto the engine. The long block came with a new oil pump and gaskets. I added a new fuel pump, clutch, fly wheel, pluggs, wires, water pump, and a few new bolts. That added another $400.

All together I spent under $2000 and got an engine I'm pretty happy with. I am no wrench head. I asked allot of questions on classicbroncos.com and did allot of web searching.

the ford engine builder you're talking about is Stan and he owns Rocky Mountain Machine and yes he is an excellent ford engine builder, probably one of the best in the state and he's a great guy, the number is (719) 591-7915

I was 10 minutes too late with the info. Logged in and saw it was taken care of.

One of the guys who works next door had a 460 built for his 78 F150 by Stan. Said he did great work and he's actually looking to take him another motor soon.
