OK I have been needing to do this for some time now. The Dana 60 that's in the back of my 69 Bronco was never set, the perches were not welded in. It had the wrong gearing. This is an unfinished project I made a barter deal for so I could own my First EB. anyway, to make a long story short, a friend of mine had a 72 Camper special truck bed made into a trailer with a D60 with 4.10 gearing which would match my front D44 gears. He was kind enough to help me make a "poor mans gear swap" and we changed the rear ends.

So I know setting pinion angles means matching your center line from your output shaft which would/better be the same from the front of the crank to the rear of the transfer case. Then you want to be within so many degrees of angle from there to your rear differential yoke. I also know with Race cars and other vehicles that do not have such a steep drop from point A to point B you generally will NEED to be within 2-3 degrees or you can start having serious issues.

I have Zero deg angle at the Transfer case right now. I have five Degrees up at my Differential yoke. I am concerned this may not be enough and was looking for thoughts/ideas about this.

69 Bronco Full width Axles front D 44 and Rear D 60 neither have been altered.

Thanks Zillacon, its a double Cardain joint on the front and single Universal joint on the rear. I know if I set my rear the same as the front it will not work because there is too steep of a drop from the transfer case to the diff.

That's a great write up. Good to know stuff. I had issues with my pinion angle. I had never realized that cv types needed to be set at a 0 degree angle. I found that same site and learned a great deal. Just when you think you know something, surprise. Haha

I need one of those gauges. I just eye balled mine. It does sit down just a hair. No vibration, so it should be within the 3 degree limit. I would like to know for sure. Do they have those gauges at the home depot.
