I would have to assume that it is on the comression stroke. The balancer reads 0*, the #1 piston is all the way up, and the distrubitor is pointing at the #1 wire.

If it was 180* out, it wouldn't run at all.

You are #1 on compression stroke, right.

Just throwing some basics out there that got me beings i had not always worked on Fords. Double check the distributor firing order is set up counter clockwise and that the right and left banks are not odd and even but 1 - 4 and 5 - 6. Just some things to check.

After looking at the video a bunch it looks like all this is correct.......Have you checked spark on each wire and plug?

My firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.

I have been over it about 8 times... but I am going to look it over again tonight and make sure there is a positive connection at each plug,

make sure you OHM out each wire and that none of your plugs got cracked/broken when going back together. If your ignition checks out all good I would do a compression test on all 8 cylinders.

I will do the KOER test today. Then switch back to the 19# injectors to see if that helps.

I went over and took a look at Ryan's engine. We found the source of the problem. Something I never saw before. Kind of like a combination exhaust and vacuum leak. Hopefully he'll post some pics.

Glad to hear you guys figured it out.

EGR hole at the bottom of the upper was cast all the way through to the intake plenum, not just into the EGR passage to the throttle body flange. Kind of like a 20mm vacuum leak and exhaust leak.

Nice job getting it diagnosed and fixed. It is nice to have that many EFI Experts in the club. Congrats and a nice way to end the weekend!

Was it fixable, or will he need a new intake?

phil said he just needs to tap and plug the hole in the intake and all should be good.

So I am finally getting pics postes of the problem.

When I bought this intake, my brother and I looked it over saying; wow, its made much better than we had expected. We both expected needing gasket matching and various other things to clean it up. Well, it was clean enough. Though it did have a hole above the exhaust port for the EGR gasses. We were like, that doesn't look right, but its a cast hole and must be there intentionally. NOT the case. I just happened to be talking about weird issues while Phil was doing a compression test to make sure it wasn't a stuch exhaust valve (THANK YOU PHIL!!!). I had mentioned the hole, and he just stoped and looked at me with a really weird look on his face. We pulled the intake piping, and opened the TB and I showed him. He started laughing and couldn't believe what he was seeing. So turns out there was NOT suppesed to be a hole thru the 2nd wall of the intake into the main runner. I had to buy a 1/2" Pipe tap to get a plug big enough to plug it. Its all done now and RUNS.

That plug fits nicely. I've searched the web for similar problems with that intake but couldn't find anything. Maybe it's one of a kind.
