Post How to transport an engine?
Forgive my newbieness, but I recently scored a 1997 Explorer engine and I'm trying to figure out the best and most secure way to get it home safely. I need to transport it (Friday afternoon probably) from Thornton area down to Littleton (c470 and Wadsworth area). What have you seen done or had experience doing that seemed to work well? Thanks.

I took the seats out of my wife's mini van, put 2 tires in the back with a gap between them, then set the engine on the tires with the pan hanging between them.

The van looked like a low rider, but it worked. You have to drive slow and careful so the engine doesn't slide.

Set the pan in an old tire, or use wood to chock the engine upright and strap it good.

yup old tires work great as well as some wood blocks and if you have wratchet straps, that helps even that much more.
