Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
I guess I thought it was time to make my grandson's Bronco trail worthy. Yanked out the front end to get ready for a power lock posi and a 3 1/2" lift. Have had the lift kit in storage for several years. Waiting on Tom's Bronco Parts to send the posi.

Trucked he cage up to Roadrunner fab and dropped it off. Ended up deciding on hammered black.

Pulled the old E-Brake Cable and installed a new Cable. Ran the speedometer cable and realized it is 1" too short. Spent 3 hours trying to figure out a way to route the cable to make up the 1". Speedometer cable still isnt fixed and still 1'" too short. Dsmith will be driving his Bronco before me.

I bought a new cable from BC's when I put my atlas in. Why would yours be an inch short? You have a stock drivetrain right?

Stock C4 trans and D20 trasfer case. What makes me even angrier is that is was installed and worked when I bought it and it had a 2" Body Lift. I removed the body lift and it doesnt fit - I am going to have Zoso check it out when he comes by this week.

Went Topless!!!
The boys worked all morning removing the hard top, factory "roll bar" and then installed the new to us front cage and are putting on the bikini top now...
Lessons learned:
Top is heavy - already knew this but holy s*^t... About four hundred and eleven bolts to attach it Need to think about how to keep the windshield frame up now that the top is gone... The body was being held straight by the top - now will be held straight by the cage
Anyone have any cool and fairly simple windshield attachement ideas? Going to have to attach it to the cage now of course.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
No problem. Happy to help. I went a couple years without those supports and with a bikini top on the wind would get under it and pull the windshield to the door and rattle taking the paint off the two pieces of metal.
And I would bet that lean comes from the tire carrier. Thats what made my passenger side sit lower in the rear. Weird but true.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
I just simply welded a piece of flat bar to the cage and ran it to the windshield frame and used one of the holes to bolt it down with. Your windshield has already moved from where the top places it, so something adjustable is good. I had to remake mine once the top was back on. If you do this, put your flat bar below the holes in the windshield so they can stay on with your top.

Just dropped it off at Bender Menders in Elizabeth. They are going to measure the frame the "old fashion" way. I hope they find something!

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
No work on the bronco. But have been workin on the cobra. Cant get it to pass emissions so I have started to de mod it. Starting with the exhaust. Pulling off the long tube headers. Installing the stock exhaust manifolds and h-pipe. Also trying to hook up the egr again. So while doing this(which isnt an easy task) I decided to install my line lock. So i get this all done to find the line lock leaks. oh and I must have broke a coolant line on the back of the motor cause now I have coolant running down the back of the motor. So now I gotta pull the line lock and throw it in the trash. then pull the transmission to find the coolant leak. All this because of ritter had to change the emissions standards. A big thanks to you DB!!!! ARG!!!!! ok end of my .

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
De-greased the front axle from the PS fluid leak over the past three years. Removed the radius arms and the torsion bar, cleaned them up too. Painted the axle. Pulled the PS box to rebuild tomorrow. Had to do a double take on the rubber brake hoses, replacing those tomorrow. I believe I found my transmission leak too. It appears to be coming out of the reverse servo cover. Tomorrow looks like another busy Bronco day.

Drove it for the first real trip (10ish miles) in a month or so. Running well, except for my ongoing weird t-case noise. Need to get to work on that....
