9" pinion yoke pre load setting?
I need to swap the pinion yoke on the rear diff. The more I look into it the more questions I have. How do you determine the preload on the old yoke and make sure the new one is set properly? is it a matter of torqe or pinion drag or what ? Do I need to pull the center section to do it or just pull the nut and put the new one on ? Any tips would be helpfull. Thanks.

I go just a hair passed your mark just to make sure there is still tension in the crush sleeve.

Or replace the crush sleeve.

Re: 9" pinion yoke pre load setting?
Ok so, I either went half a turn to far or half a turn to short? It seems to be real tight (the nut) I put my torqe wrench on it just to see about how tight it was and its about 120 ftlb now, is there a typical torqe rang? Should I leave it or go the half turn more ?

150-175 is pretty good. As long as your rotational torque is within spec.
