Hydro Boost and power steering are working again
Ok.
So i installed the HB and it was working good but had air in it.
filled reservoir with fluid and planned on bleeding after work last week. Got home to find fluid all over the garage floor.
Turns out for some unknown reason a PO decided to hammer spots on the underside of the res causing the seal to not work so good when it was filled to a proper level.
So looking at my options I found one from Checker for $50 reman.
Sweet, its done.
Wrench the old out and work on getting the pully off with my standard puller.
not happening.
next day I get a puller and installer from auto parts store.
Cake, on and off.
install new pump and fill with fluids, fire truck and nothin but manual steering and no assist on brakes
spend way too much time trying to bleed air, even hooked up my HVAC Vac pump to a rigged gallon jug to make a bleeder and pulled plenty of fluid through the High pressure hoses.
did get some assist after that but it was hit or miss.
call back to auto store and they say there is another up in Aurora (Iam in Parker) wife and Boy were gone so I gab the little missus and get in my Excursion and go nowhere as my no start issue is acting up. (whole nother story)
Crap we are stuck at home.
Screw it says me, Kiley wanted to go to the store and she is excited when I ask if she wants to take the Bronco.
Bundle her up (we only have a bikini top right now), and off we go to Aurora witha manual steered and braked truck.
Lotsa work for me but nice to know it can be done if I have a failure.
anyhow up to A town and they pull the pump and imagine my surprise when I open the boxand it waswrong.
it was a missbox
turns out they have a pump with no reservoir though, so I say what the heck and grab that and figure I will install that in the new reservoir and return the non working internals.
Leave Checkers and as we pull in the street I hear what sounds like a drum brake dragging.
Crap light just turned and cars are closing fast.
cant stop, so we head towards next pull out where I hear my oem ford wheel centercap fling off and bounce down the road.
Double Crap.
go up turn around and by the time we get back somebody had run it over and broke it in half.
grabbed it and off we went for home, as my 3.5 yo daughter says with concern. "daddy its getting dark"
no worries we actually have working lights sweetie, she says "oh" with a tone of disbelief. : )
so I decided to wait and see if i could find a complete pump instead of messing with changing all this stuff back and forth.
picked it up monday and installed it last night. filled and fired up truck and Viola instant power steering and brakes and no more leaks(from that anyhow)
Garage was warm and toasty, music was playing and I had 2 whole
(Ima lightweight) twas a good night, and finally this little saga is done, just a little air bleeding tonight after work to make sure its good.
Oh and if anyone needs to borrow a PS pulley puller and installer they are welcome to borrow mine.
Cheesy Pic but I was happy!
also just realized the color of my Bronco is "Bud Light Blue"
