Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
Routed the fuel lines through the frame from the tank to under the hood to avoid the exhaust. Re wired the electric fuel pump, adjusted the idle so it doesn't stall at every stop light and stop sign, and.....
DROVE IT!
No vapor lock, no stall, no problems!
Yeeaaahhyaa!
Going to play with the timing here in a few and......
DRIVE IT SOME MORE!!!!

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
Got the front shoulder belts installed on saturday and the weatherstrip/door seals on the drivers side done. I took the family up on a long trail drive up Ophir creek rd on the back side of the Greenhorn and we drove up to blue lakes (more of a pond). Had no issues (other than this thing squeaking like a stuck pig). Family had a blast. Jayson

Finally got time to finish the radiator install. Plan to take a break from truck stuff and start in on the rear axle rebuild tomorrow if I can make time.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
I've been hacking away at my Mercury Mestique passenger seat & a Bronco II passenger seat bracket. I got the seat bracket for $20, and it was already unbolted from the truck. I think, with some heavy modification I can make it work. I've test fit the bracket & seat shell 10x, carefully cutting to get the fit right. The overall size/shape of the new seat is very similar to the original Bronco seat. The Bronco II bracket is just about the height of the step in the floor. I expect the new seat bottom to sit down on the floor just the way the old seat does. Hope to be done by this weekend. I'll take everything apart & post up better pics in a thread when its all done.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
Disassembled the rear axle to check the condition of everything and to get things all set for new bearings. I also confirmed what the PO had told me about the parts it was built with: '76 or '77 big bearing housing, Currie nodular iron 3rd member with Currie 31 spline axles and an ARB locker. I was happy to find that the splines on the axles also look good and I think I've got the original Ford 4.10 gears. I'm hoping they're in good enough shape to not need replacing.

How much fuel in the tank? I wonder if the pump was overheating.

This is the EFI truck? Do you run both a low and a high pressure pump? 7/16" line?

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
I know on that bucket of a gm truck that I have to drive it has issues with this when you run it down to 1/4 or less. That and crappy gas. Maybe water in the tank?

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
The fuel picks up a lot of heat from the fuel rail. As hot as it's been out I can hear fuel percolating in my tank after I shutdown.
What kind of venting do you have on the tank? If it isn't vented it won't pump easily.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
I am no expert, but in my research the in-tank pumps have been problematic for many. The suggested setup is to run a low pressure pump close to the tank on the frame rail to get the gas out of the tank, then a high pressure unit a short ways up the frame to do the heavy lifting.
Maybe the vent will help.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
Well that narrows it down to a problem with the pump or the pickup. No reason an in-tank pump shouldn't work well. It might be sucking air from the pickup side. I assume the wiring is appropriately sized to deliver 10 amps or so.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
Adjusted the kickdown cable last night. It was a little tight and would drop down on the freeway (not good) so got it adjusted for highway driving. Drove it to work today and realized it won't fit in the parking garage with the BesTop up. I guess it can park outside for a few hours
