What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)

Channeled my inner Viper and drilled and tapped my rear axle housing for a drain. Scariest thing I've done in awhile. Came out great, but would have been a really bad thing to screw up.

Loads of little stuff. Removed the old auto shift collar and shift tube, replaced with a smooth collar. New turn signal switch and flasher fuses but still only have 1 working signal. Put the rest of the steering back together and pulled the signal cam off the old wheel the PO had left which was a nice bonus. Put the passenger side door back together and all the handles/locks work finally. Small stuff but getting closer to taking it out for at least 1 camping trip before the summer's over!

So the exhaust is too close to the fuel lines (I thought you ran them on the outside of the frame).

I like your dual exhaust set up. Hopefully they can re-use some of it.

How about running the fuel line on top of the frame, seems popular, though it would be a problem to get at.

Got in the bronco and went to fire it up and the starter went crack and then spun. I was able to get it out this am and lots of little pieces fell out. I replaced it and it started right up. I also bought a new water pump and thermostat to get on the next couple of days. Jayson

Got the new water pump in and new hoses placed. I took the radiator to a place to have it boiled and cleaned. Should be able to pick it up today and hopefully get it reinstalled in the am.

Hope everyone has a good weekend out doors. I have to work nights all weekend and will be lucky to even drive the bronco. Jayson

I started it today. First time in about a month. turned the key on and let the pump fill the carb. 2 pumps on the go peddle and hit the key. Fired right up. Gotta love that. burnout

We did- just don't have a steering wheel puller at home so we can't get it all the way out. It is sitting there lose. Still have about 50% of the connections to make under the dash and the tail lights. hopefully by lunch we can be cruising.

I will be at the shop tomorrow, I can bring my puller over if you need it. I can give you a hand with some of that, maybe some pointers because I know you like to do that yourself. laughing2

Thanks to the Bronco Hut for being open on a holiday and for having a complete correct used harness, and thanks to all the help from Shawn of 69 bronco fame, we are nearly complete in the new harness install.

Just hoping that a new and correct module will finish the heavy lifting tonight. Then tidy up some lose end, install some wire looms and reinstall the dash, then free bird fly once again

Folks, I would like to take a moment to place a shout out to the bronco hut: Yesterday was my first time dealing with them. It will not be my last. They are great people who are working hard to build a business in a difficult economy. The good news is that they are about to become somewhat more convient. They are opening a shop in castle rock complete with paint booth that we can rent to paint our own vehicles. They are also branching out into other classic cars. Mustangs, camaros, etc. they will be able to help you. Those of you who are in the process of beautifying your rigs should give them a call. Fenders are on sale right now and Melissa informed me that she always keeps new tailgates and grills in stock at below standard dealer cost.

X2!! They are great down-home Bronco folk and I always ask Melissa and Dana about parts I'm looking for before going with the out-of-state shops. Sometimes the others are cheaper and carry items the Hut doesn't...but that happens rarely.

I can't wait for their new Bronco/Mustang shop in downtown Castle Rock to open up! They are going to throw a big party and I think we should thank them with a big turnout.

I agree. I think about 40 bronco's parked in front of their building along with any other classic cars would look amazing, and who knows, it might even be a picture that ends up on the front page of their web site. Then your rig would be famous.

Got the re-worked radiator in this am, the folks a the radiator shop had to replace a couple of the tubes and acid dipped it and then boiled it out, they also painted it and it does look better. I ran it for 45min and then checked the temp with a laser at diff locations and found that it is running 30-45 deg cooler. Happy to have this done. Jayson
