Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
Got my steering ram leak fixed. I had a 45* elbow stick out of the top of the ram. When the suspension compressed, it hit my engine cross-member now that my axle is a couple inches further forward. Replaced the elbow with a 90, replaced the JIC fitting and put on a new hose. Seems good, but only a couple trips will verify.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
Dropped it off at Blast-tech.
Gonna do the engine bay and that section of the frame plus a couple of brackets for 100 scoots and have it finished before turkey day.
Can't beat that with a rubber hose.

Blastech seems to be a favorite. Gary's great to work with and they haven't warped any of our stuff yet.
Finally got the rear end set up yesterday. Woo!

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
This was Sunday, but got some new toobes added to the front bumper. In the side profile picture you can see where we added a light bar above the winch behind the others. Hopefully I'll get a chance to paint it over the long weekend... J.D.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
JD- cool looking bumper, I bet it was tough getting those things symmetrical.
I pulled all the screens out of my injectors & picked up a can of injector cleaner to soak them.
I also kept scrubbing away at my new rims. I think I'm going to do the "nasty" & pull out the shop sand blaster. There are some spots that just aren't going to come clean, and I want to get some surface rust off the inner lip where the bead seats. No sense half-assing it, I'm going to use my whole ass!

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
There have been a handful of ongoing projects on Freebird the last few weeks so time for an update.
Engine: in place, wired and plumbed (we think) just got the alternator wired last night. Only thing missing now are the power steering lines. Hope to aquire those this week.
frame repairs and improvements to the steering gear reinforcing. Yes, freebird has had another broken/cracked/torn frame. But is now fully gusseted, braced and welded. We are hoping the new lines take care of the leaks. The whole area has been cleaned and painted.
Rust repairs: currently wrapping up the drivers side and will take on the passenger side next, inner fenders and cowl are included in this batch of repairs. Those of you who are going to tell us these door posts are over kill obviously have not seen Drew drive the beast.
Also on the list for the next few weeks: cutting off the rockers, adding rock sliders, perhaps even getting started on a front bumper.
Mr. Viper - if the alternator is not correctly wired, I am told you are the one to call, considering our luck with wiring these days, you might want to consider yourself "on call". there is a better than good chance you will be hearing from us.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
Ahh, that explains it, I will spend some time setting up a photo hosting site, have been meaning to anyway. Thanks.
Frankie (he who purchased your otehr lil red one) spent the night last night and he and Drew are working on Drew's today "unsupervised" as I am at work. They made that door post out of 1/4" steel plate. they actually got it fully welded in last night. The door is much more solid now as you can imagine.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
Sandblasted the gnarly spots on my new-to-me steel rims, blew out my fuel injectors that had been soaking in cleaner for a couple days, and pulled out my DIY gear banger & installed a stock NP435 shifter. I never liked how the gear banger shifted. I was always hunting/grinding into 3rd gear. Bought a shifter from a guy on CB.com, it cost me more than I paid for the whole transmission from Pull-n-Save 10 years ago. Although, I only paid $25.00 for the transmission ($50 transmission weekend w/a gift certificate I paid 1/2 price for). Note to self: If it ain't broke........ I won't be chopping this one off.

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
This does not count as Bronco-work...but since I started the thread I'm going with it:) I disassembled my 4Runner's dash and added an iPhone AUX cable to the rear of the Kenwood DNX7100. This unit is a few years old and doesn't support the iPhone 4. The AUX connection works perfectly and now I can play my entire library through the stereo:)

Finished the aux tank install and it feeds fuel but the gauge does not work. I probably have a short in a wire somewhere. JP

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
The gauge reads full with the main tank and empty with the aux? Not much of an electrical type so I will work on this as I go. thanks JP

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
I didn't do it to my Bronco, but today I learned a little Paintless-Dent-Repair. A new guy started, he's got a lot of experience, & seems real smart. Best news for me he's very happy to teach too.
P-D-R looks cool, for lots of reasons. Really will be an awesome skill to learn. I spent a couple hours at the end of the day playing with a fender from the trash pile & came away with some decent results. Not bad for a first try!

Re: What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)
He's got a rolling tool cart that looks like a giant porcupine, just PDR tools. I just used a basic round point pick & a plastic punch & hammer today, and a "custom" fluorescent light.
He spent the day working hail damage from a Toyota 4runner hood & I just sat & watched for a while. Very cool.

This is more "for" the Bronco.....but I installed brackets and hangers for the garage heater yesterday. Neighbor will help me lift it into position today. Went with the Mr. Heater Big Maxx 45K BTU unit. Plumdoctor is going to run a gas line for me this week....then just need to get it power and vented.
