Carpet insulation ideas
Im looking for carpet insulation that does a good job of eliminating some road noise as well as keeps the bronco cool/ warm, depending on season. I see there some products out there bronco specific. I have a feeling you can get the same material somewhere cheaper and just cut it out yourself. Anyone have some ideas.

Re: Carpet insulation ideas
Any concerns with water if you run without the top on? I was thinking of doing something like this but worried it wouldn't last long through a couple of rainy days.

Re: Carpet insulation ideas
Has anyone tried this stuff out in place of the factory firewall insulation? Mine is falling apart and I'm wondering if this would be a cheap way to replace it.

Re: Carpet insulation ideas
Did you guys use one roll or two rolls of the metallic insulation? Did you get special duct tape?

Re: Carpet insulation ideas
you know what i have some thermal foil tape if you need some.. My wife works for a materials/tape company that supplies Lockheed, boeing and ULA.. the tape is used in thermal applications for aircraft and space stuff.. so should be pretty good. I will have the see how much i have but i can get more.. it should stick pretty well without peeling up and it should seal the insulation pretty good without getting all gooey and stuff

Re: Carpet insulation ideas
Cool - I will hit Lowe's at lunch today. I am doing the carpet install this weekend so I will post up pics of the insulation and (Landshark) carpet install. I was not going to add carpet to my Bronco when it I thought I had to buy a $150.00 insulation kit. Thanks a ton for posting up this cheaper alternative.

Re: Carpet insulation ideas
I am still in the process of water proofing my firewall. All the sealing adhesive or caulking was melted away when the my bronco was burnt to a crisp. Having to yank everything off the firewall to lay a good bead on all the crevices. Not going to spend a bunch of money on carpet for it to be ruined in a year. Bad part is I was welding up the hole for the clutch rod I end up melting my nylon clutch line On my clutch setup there's no bleed screw and its a bitch to get bleed out. You have to get a complete master, slave, reservoir, and line assembly all pre bled from dodge. $230 later. Damn you mopar! Make sure you look on the other of what your welding. It could have been worse.
