Have any of you guys ever done this??

I have 3 big (26" x 36") cast iron table saw tops that have much surface rust on them. I want to set up a baby pool and give them a dip so I dont have to sand, buff and polish them. I will buff them out and wax the parts afterwards. I have all the ingredients: pool, h2o, battery charger, electrodes and washing soda (Sodium Carbonate), Just looking for tips and hints for success. Once its set up I will let you all know how it goes.

I watched Stacy David do it on Trucks! a few years ago. Seemed to work for him.

Cool Man this works pretty good. I still need to buff it out but it sure took all the rust and old paint off. I might have to go through the shed and see what else I can clean up.

I set up the pool with 80 gallons of water, one box of washing soda and mixed it with a paddle and drill. I had some steel tubing that I supported with jack stands, This is what I hung everything from, It made it easy to adjust the hieght of the part in the water. I bent up a few 5/8" square metal balusters That were sitting around ito the radius of the pool and welded them together to form the electrode (to collect the rust and gunk). Hooked up the battery charger and I was set.
I left the parts in the pool for no less than 4 hours, I left one section in overnight. From what i can gather you cant leave parts in to long. After taking out the parts I hit them with a wire wheel on my grinder, it leaves a black surface residue that comes off very easy. Then I took some metal polishing compond and buffed all of the cast iron tops. Finished them off with some Turtle Wax and sprayed some paint on the edges and underneath to prevent more rust. Now I have great Table saw that I can sell to someone with 3 phase power to run it.

Just for shits and grins I threw in the radius arms I got from Gunni to let them soak overnite, It will make for easy cleaning when the time comes to build some longer arms
