3.5vs5.5 lift pros and cons
I'm thinking about going up to a 5.5 lift. I have 37" mtr and 3.5 with 1"body. Any feedback on 5.5 with larger tires

Re: 3.5vs5.5 lift pros and cons
I have a 3.5 susp lift witha 2 in body lift, if i was to do it all over again i would do 5.5 susp lift and just replace the shot body mounts more travel justa better way to lift ur bronco just my 2cents.

Re: 3.5vs5.5 lift pros and cons
I despise body lifts. 5.5" suspension lift is a nice size but would be too tall with any body lift IMO. I am really liking the idea of less lift with big tires and cut to clear. Keeps your center of gravity in a good place. When/if I go up to 40s I will cut to clear before I lift it any higher. If I were you only wanting to run 37s I would keep it at 4.5 total lift.

Re: 3.5vs5.5 lift pros and cons
I want to go to 40inch tires. I need a 60 front 1st. Currently I hit my tires bad on full stuff in the rear. Next winter I would like to do a 60 hp front with a 4 link

Re: 3.5vs5.5 lift pros and cons
The front is a high pinion king pin Dana 60 out of a 87 f350 and the rear is a 60 out of 1978. 410 gears in both and rear is factory posi Both axles are complete minus brake lines (I had to steal the brake lines for my build). These are the same year axles that I put under my bronco. $1000 for the set.

I think my 9" is strong enough for 40s. Would you sell the front only. And come over and guide me on a install ;)

Re: 3.5vs5.5 lift pros and cons
Would have to measure. Right now my tires are down to 10psi from the recent snow bash trip. I'll get a measurement when they are at street pressure.
I have never had a bronco with anything else than what I have now, but I think if I want more flex, it's time to four-link and go to air shocks or coil-overs. I still think a lot of stability comes from a flexy suspension.
I wouldn't mind 5.5 on full width axles, but I think I like my stock width for the reasons Crawler points out in other threads. I would like a few more inches of length tho. Improve approach and departure angle as well as stretch the rig a little.
J.D.

Crawler, how tall is your garage door? I've thought about going to 37s, but am really, really close right now.

I'm running a 5.5" susp. lift & 35s and I clear my garage door by about 1.5"-2". It's tight.

Where do you rub?
You'd be happier with an HP front setup anyway.

But on the back of the wheel wells, on the inside, front? Maybe you need spacers on the wheels.

Re: 3.5vs5.5 lift pros and cons
im currently running 5.5" wh lift, 2" body and 35's and clear the garage door by 2", mine is plenty flexy, and i plan on going to 37's but im going to drop it to 4.5"s of suspension, as i have a slight driveline vibration in the rear i can't fully get rid of with out dropping it or going to a hp 9" center section, and its just a little to tippy for my liking, before i did the long arms i had 4.5" of lift and 2" body, and i loved it, it never rubs, but its also on fullwidth axles
