Post atempting to build my 4x4x2 box... questions
This weekend or next week I am thinking of tacking my PS conversion on my 72 bronco. I believe I have everything I need to do this, but someone I go to for tips is telling me that I need pulleys, a PS fluid reservoir, and maybe something else.

The instructions I have found online make no mention of any of this. Has anyone done this before?

First off, you have to have a double V pulley on the front of the engine. If you don't have one, it won't work. The single V pulley is fine for anything stock without the PS, but you have to have the added V on the pulley to get a belt over to the PS pump. As for a fluid reservoir, the pump is the reservoir. Let me ask you, are you doing an EB PS swap or is the box & pump off of something else?

I have the double v pulley, the PS pump (which I see has the reservoir), steering box from an old F150 and getting a box from a bronco with the worm gear that I need. I do wonder about the steering shaft, if that will clear or if I will need a new one.

These pages were very helpful with the 4x4x2 info. I haven't done it, so I can't really answer questions. Hope this helps:

Yeah, read the articles from WCB several times before you do the swap. I have only done an EB PS swap and that bolted directly up without any modification at all. I got lucky.

As for the steering shaft, are you talking about where the rag joint is on the shaft & where it hits the fender well? If it is, you can do one of a couple of things. The first, easiest and ugliest is to just get a hammer and smack the crap out of the fender well. #2 would be to cut a gap in the fender well where the joint is going to hit and make it look good and #3 is to cut the shaft and move it down closer to the box to give clearance for the joint/well area. When I did mine, I didn't have to do any modification because late 72 and up they modified the fender, radiator & core support to accept a PS system. The only thing I had to do was cut my original shaft to the correct length, weld the rag joint back on to my shaft and put it all together. It was pretty simple.

But for sure, read those WCB articles.

Mine's a 72 as well and so far it looks like it's all going to be just fine. Direct bolt on, pretty sure. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for all the tips!
