Post Rock Blocker Front Bumper Install?
I just received my Rock Blocker front bumper from WH and it looks awesome. However, the mounting tabs that came welded to the bumper are too wide/tall to slip into the frame on the Bronco. I managed to manipulate the "birds mouth" end of the frame enough to get the bumper part of the way in, but it wont slide all the way in. I am hesitant to force the bumper into place i.e. push it up against a light pole or something:(
Any suggestions? Also, does anyone suggest reinforcing the end of the frame once the bumper is installed?

Just checked out the bumper on WH - Looks like a great bumper and can't wait to see it in person. As far as fit, I think anything for a 40 year old truck is going to need some 'finesse' to get it in. My front bumper needed a rubber mallet is all, but a 1/8" difference would have needed a lot more work. I would try to hammer the frame to match the bumper.

Thanks, that's kinda what I thought. I was hoping to avoid having to force the issue as I would like to temp it in there first to get an idea of how it looks and how I'm gonna secure it. Then remove it to have it powder coated. Hope to catch you guys at the next breakfast or a Meet and Greet.

I don't know the bumper, and can't get to WH website from work, but does it mount on the outside of the frame horns like a stock bumper? Maybe your frame horns were smashed in a bit and they just need to be bent (carefully) back to the stock specs. Someone can post up some measurements from their good condition frame so you can check yours against it.

I am not seeing how it mounts on the site, but can you grind down the tall part so that all you are dealing with is the too wide? Note that Powdercoating also adds a fair bit of thickness, so when grinding take that into consideration as well.

I did take into consideration the powder coating making the tabs even wider. I was considering instructing the guys not to powder coat that part and I would simply primer paint the tabs before I mount it. I may have to just grind the tabs a bit.
My digital camera is taking pictures in too large of format and I am unable to post any pictures of my dilema (I'm not exactly computer savy). I'll work on that and try to post some pix soon.
Thanks guys!

Easiest thing to do (I have found) is open a free account on www.photobucket.com and upload your photos there. Just put some forethought into organizing them before you post links to the pictures because links break if you move them. You can create sub albums. In this case, I'd create one called Bronco/Rock Blocker and put the images there.

Once uploaded, hover over the pictures, and some codes should pop up. click on the one that starts with [IMG and it should automatically copy it for you. In a new tab or window, paste that code into your reply here on this site. Repeat that process for all the pictures you want to share. Preview your post and you should see the images.

You can also open the picture with "Paint", then use the "Stretch Skew" or "Resize" and reduce the width & height of pic to make it smaller.

Maybe you can try to loosen your body mounts to give that chassis a little slack. Or if someone has a port-o-power you can spread it out just enough, then relax once its fitted tightly inside. :worthless:

Photobucket is my choice too, Paint is a quick, easy solution. Since I've only posted the pics to internet forums, quality has never been my goal.

I dont know how your bumper mounts but if it slides inside of the frame with a fairly long tab you might be hitting one of the steering box bolts? just a thought.
