Fixed/modified my taillights today. I had a broken one from my recent crawling trip so instead of sticking another 66 taillight lense on it to break eventually I made my own. Definitely not for everyone, but it works for me.

Brought it home. Tucked it away in my own garage. Bet my parents are happy its no longer in their back yard. Got the whole front clip loose crept one screw on the drivers door jam. Gonna have to cut it off. Also turned the motor over by hand. It turns smoothly. Can't wait to get goin on this.

What have you done to your Bronco today? (v.2)

Postby Colorado75bronc » Sat Jul 07, 2012 5:37 pm

Finally got the new leaf spring perches from ruff stuff last night, got the d60 centered, pinion angle set, and welded the perches on after bolting it all back together, driveshaft doesn't need lengthening or to be shortened, I guess 3 1/2 inches was the perfect amount to push the rear d60 back, drove it around the block as I haven't driven it in months, runs good with the 410's, just need to find a reamer so I can get the tierod to pull up a lil more into the knuckles

What is involved with the hybrid? Is it geared lower than the EB D20?

It's just the 2.46 T gears combined with the J shift rails and J front output shaft. All the best parts from the Dana factory.

Decided to see how a power washing would do on the engine bay. It did ok...not great.

Removed the power steering gear and used Aircraft Remover to get rid of the nasty red paint I previously used on it. Going to ship it along with the Explorer pump out to Lee's Power Steering shop for complete rebuilds. They can increase the flow of the pump also and build the hoses I need.

Decided I didn't have enough ankle biter issues with the Bronco, so tonight I went ahead and snapped off an intake manifold bolt. I was bored and the gasket R&R was going too well. Haven't figured out whether the reused Mr. Gasket intake bolts or the Harbor Freight torque wrench get credit for the assist.

Finally got some time to work on it. Needed to put another bend in the twin sticks to get them to clear the NP435 shifter, so I fired up the new-to-me oxy-acetylene setup for the first time.

Nothing really......but 76, ZOSO, and booger came by this morning and got the new 7 degree bushings installed, Mike's front drive shaft hooked up and popped in a new chip in the computer. Appears to be running great, handles like a maserati, and is ready to climb Mt. Everest. I thought I did a nice job staying out of the way.
I want to also thank cobshane for fixing that flywheel making a racket after the bolts backed out.
I don't know what I would do without the great guys in this club. One thing I know I wouldn't be doing is driving my Bronco much.

Finally got the steering knuckles reamed, steering installed and got back to driving it last Wednesday, drives great, gotta save up and hopefully in 2-3 weeks can get the rear disc brake kit for the d60, drove it to my buddy's wedding, had to shuffle him around in it for pictures, the photographer was a bronco chick, she wanted to include mine in the photos, I told her probably best to do what the bride wanted haha
