Not a bow hunter so I still have to wait till October. But I can't wait either.

Re: Who's ready to put an arrow in an elk
My best childhood memories are from bow hunting elk and deer with my dad and uncle. We never got anything, but the adventure and memories are priceless.
The coolest thing was being literally, and I'm not kidding here, maybe 7-10 feet from a very curious moose. The only thing between us and it was a little twig of an aspen.

Where are you guys seeing all these moose? I don't really hunt so much any more, but if I can get the wife up in the mountains to see some moose I might get her off my back about moving to Alaska.

Re: Who's ready to put an arrow in an elk
We've seen 3 moose up near Rand. Of course, that was over maybe 6 trips, and 2 of those moose were together, so they're not too common. For all we know, the one we saw alone was one of the two we saw the first time.

We ran into a cow when we finished that trails just outside of Nederland...
Also seen a real big bull going across the top of South Clear Creek Falls in SW CO.
As far as sticking an Elk, that would be cool. I'd like to get back into bow hunting. Did it has a teenager and had fun, but never harvested anything.

Re: Who's ready to put an arrow in an elk
There was a moose in town a couple of weeks ago. Saw a picture of him sitting on top of motor city looking at cars. Then there was that one that came up from Pueblo a few years back. Came right up Fountain Creek.

Re: Who's ready to put an arrow in an elk
I saw a cow moose & calf near Cottonwood pass, and also a cow moose near Slumgulian pass (Lake City) last year. I saw lots of moose tracks near Lake City and Creede last summer.
