Post Saginaw Steering Pump
The bracket on my OE steering pump on my 75DBE is broken so I have the whole thing off. I was ordering a new bracket from WH but then I started thinking that with the larger tires that I have and the lift, I should -- if possible -- change out the OE steering pump with a Saginaw steering pump. So my question is -- anyone have one lying around that they would not mind parting with relatively cheap? Let me know!

HAH! Well, if I can get a Saginaw pump and bracket together cheap, that would be awesome. If someone has the pump, I'd be looking to purchase a WH bracket to go with it. :-)

If you can't find one from a member, any parts store will have one for $50-70. They're something like $25 at most junkyards.

So is a "canned ham" Saginaw steering pump a "canned ham" Saginaw steering pump? So if I see one I can't confuse it with any other type of steering pump?

So Zack has convinced me to just put a brand new Delphi / Saginaw "canned ham" style power steering pump in the Bronco, but as that was not originally on the vehicle, I don't have a part number and there are MANY Delphi / Saginaw power steering pumps available for the Ford. HELP!

So the Heavy Duty Delphi Pump Kit - Bronco/Saginaw box sold by WH for this Bronco was never stock equipment on the Bronco, though it seems like that is what I should get. I work at a part store now -- so if I could figure out the part number, I would probably be able to get it at a decent discount! Again, help!

Ok, I found that pump at Autozone (where I work now part time). But the pump that WH sells is not a dual return Delphi / Saginaw. What it the purpose / value of the dual return?

Pump will be about $40, though I am not sure it is the same quality as the WH version. Why would they be charging $200 for the same pump?

The dual return provides you an easy option for running Hydroboost power brake systems. It is not necessary for running hydroboost, as the return line can be "T'd", however it does tend to make it a more aesthetically pleasing install. For you, I would pick up the single return pump.

So it is just a matter of new vs rebuilt? Ok, got that. But I am not understanding the dual vs single return issue.

Ok, picked up my new Saginaw / Delphi power steering pump on Saturday! Really excited to get it in and hooked up! Now if I can just figure out how that new line is going to work! Hmmm...

The mid-70s Scout II used a Saginaw PS pump and Saginaw PS box that has the same fittings as the EB box. So..., you should be able to order the $15 Scout II PS pressure hose and have it plug right in, no adapters needed.

Ah, that is great information. I think I will be getting this whole PS pump / connections / etc. in tomorrow night -- with a little help from some friends! I will see if I can get one of the Scout pressure hoses at work today. Thanks for the pointer -- much appreciated!
