Post Compression
Finally got around to checking my compression for the first time this afternoon. Came out 121, 121, 125, 125, 127, 120, 118, 120 (average of 122). I live at about 6000ft of altitude and am not sure how much of a difference that makes. I have never tested compression before, so the numbers may be influenced by user error. I parked the truck at about 12:00, and it sat cooling till I started about 1:30. It did run for a minute or two to get all the fuel out of the lines and carb. How do those numbers look? I'm trying to decide whether to out the energy into putting my GT40 heads and (down the road) EFI on this block. It's going to be at least a year until I can afford to build something unless I find some smoking deal on a short block in good shape and I'm getting a pretty good puff of blue smoke on startup. Whatd'ya think?

OK, retested the passenger's side cylinders with the throttle open at the suggestion of DirtDonk over on CB.com. Got 127, 125, 123, and 128 up from 120, 118, 120 and 127. So not bad, especially when you take the altitude into consideration.
