Re: EFI Swap Emissions Disaster - Help, Ideas???
Let's review what we have learned here: #1- the state will require you to pass the emissions standards of the donor vehicle if you do an engine EFI swap on all 75 or newer broncos #2- glove box VIN numbers are not the a tual legal numbers, instead they are merely there for waranty purposes #3- when purchasing an eb, make sure there is only one VIN mumber and if there is more than one, get titles to all of them. #4- all this is mute if you purchase a 1974 or older bronco because you do boot have to pass any emissions inspection at all and can get 5 year collector tags. Engine swaps included. #5- I am very glad we have a 74.
Great thread

Re: EFI Swap Emissions Disaster - Help, Ideas???
#4 is not 100% true. You have to pass the first emissions test for collectors tags. Then after that first one you are exempt.

Re: EFI Swap Emissions Disaster - Help, Ideas???
Still isn't resolved. it is in the state emissions computer as having a 1985 EFI engine. The only way to get it switched back to being tested at 1976 emission standards is to have it reinspected by a state tech to verify it has a carbeurated 302 with required emission components. It is in Windsor at BMF Performance. Still not passing emissions. I am sure the CAT from 1976 is bad. Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't an annual test! Jonah got his license today, so we missed having it done, but such is life.

I'm sure I'm stating the obvious but make sure you've run it enough to get the cats nice and hot before you roll into the test.
