Hey all

I am trying to get the 73 up and running again and found a broken piece of soft/flex hose running from the fuel sending unit to the hard fuel line (aux tank). While that's not an issue, I have a 2nd line coming out of the fuel sending unit. I was looking at replacement sending units, and they only seem to have one place to connect a line...

Does anyone have ideas on what the other is? I need to trace it, but was running late for the Rodeo and didn't get to follow it, and now stuck at work for 3 days.

Its a bone stock 302 running a carb. It was all running before I got deployed, bought a house, got married.... You all know how it goes.

I'm thinking it may be going to the vapor recovery canister (charcoal canister??) but I'm not sure. If that's the case, do I really need those lines running?

It will help contain the fuel vapor while it is sitting in the garage and minimizes the fuel smell.

During the first half of the '73 models there was a fuel system that used a fuel return line. It's not documented well at all. It would be great if you could post some pics of it. Nobody makes replacement senders with the return port. You can add the port to a sender or get rid of the return parts all-together like most people seem to have done.

Viper - that is making sense, I think. I'll get a pic of the unit and code posted up. I was confused for a long time on the stock 73 with PS and a T shifter.
Any thoughts on what extra steps I need to take in getting it running again? Do I need to get a new cab or seal the return on the one in there?

First fix up any fuel lines that look bad. Then go to the old two step process. Check for fuel at the carb and spark.
