Time for new ring and pinions, still debating between 4.10 and 4.56. Was wondering what this will cost me and if anyone knows a good place to have this done in the north Denver/Thornton/Westminster/ Broomfield vicinity. As always any help is appreciated.

There are a number of folks in the club who are able to set up ring and pinions. If you opt to take them to a shop talk to Crawlertech 4x4 in Commerce City. They're a haul, but do great work. He charges $300 per axle if you bring the housing or center section in, more if it's installed in the truck.

is that parts and labor or labor? Looked at gears sets from Toms and they ran about $160 or there abouts. I think I know where Crawlertech is, maybe I'll call them tomorrow and see how bad it is. Otherwise if anyone wants to help do gears???

I think that's just labor, but I'm not sure. If it's just labor the setup kit runs about $120 an axle. If you buy the G2 kit from 4Wheel Parts you can get a bit of a deal from them. Erie at the Westminster store is a Bronco guy and will hook you up a little if you mention the club. Crawlertech's pricing is a good deal for a Dana 44, as they're a PITA. You might be able to talk him down some for the 9". They're much easier.

You'd be better off seeing if someone in the club would come out and help you and pay them. 1) it'd be hands on experience 2) probably cheaper!

You can't know too much about your rig!

What do you do with the rig (mall crawler, mild trails, tough ones)? Future plans?

There's a guy in Erie. He did the rear in mine. I brought him the center section and he put in what I wanted. Dan. He advertises on Craigslist. I know of a couple of guys in CCB that used him.

JD cousin does great work hes down south but the patterns were perfect. Im always willing to spend the money on gears because when the ring and pinion go it takes lockers, axles, housings with it. The 9" is really pretty easy with solid crush sleeves but the 44 takes a bit more knowledge.. see what jds cousin charges. Drop your housing good time to clean it and paint.
