Bronco problem starting
I drove my bronco to the store today and now it is stranded. (Got to love it) I think it is having trouble getting a spark. I did not have any tools to see if it was. Then the engine was flooded. I did pull my distributor cap and noticed there was metal shaving in the housing. Could my distributor be bad? What is a good one to replace it with (Engine is a 302)? I did get it to back fire a couple times so I know it got spark then but it was flooded so it would not start. I am going to let it sit over night and take tools tomorrow morning to see if I can get it started. Let me know what you guys think I should do. Thanks

What ignition are you running, what carb are you running, condition/age of plugs, wires, cap & rotor.

Make sure you have good spark. Pertronix has some reliability issues but you can always put the points/condensor back in if it isn't working.

If my memory is right he has has a electronic upgrade in the dizzy, but the rest is stock. When you pop the cap how much play is there side to side or up & down, a little play is normal on a old dizzy. Pull a plug and ground it against the exhaust manifold to see if you have spark. I think your wires were fairly oil soaked, did you swap them out yet? If you haven't swapped the plugs & wires bring a set with you and do it right in the parking lot, it'll only take a few minutes, firing order is right on the manifold by the dizzy.

If your running a pertronix do not use the ballast resistor. It will fry ignitor systems. It needs a true 12v and prefers 14.4 if possible. I would
