Douglas county
I just bought my first bronco and I am not really sure if I can just transfer my title without plating it since it doesn't run? I'm sure somebody on here lives in Douglas county that could clue me in.
I'm glad I ran into a group of you guys at twin peaks a couple weeks ago. Can't wait to get to work on it!!!

Re: Douglas county
I remember you, glad you joined up. If you have a Colorado title and it's a 1975 or older, just go down to the DMV and register it. Don't forget you'll need proof of insurance so you may want to wait till it's running.

Re: Douglas county
Isn't there a penalty you have to pay if you don't register a car within some period of time in Colorado?

Re: Douglas county
I believe it maxes at 125 or 150 bucks. Way cheaper than the insurance for a non running rig

Re: Douglas county
I just got tags for my pop-up camper. I bought it in September. The penalty was $13.00. Not sure what a Bronco would be.

Re: Douglas county
I had a truck that I didn't drive for a few months in Douglas County. I just called the DMV and asked what the fine would be. Then I called the insurance company to find out what it would cost to have comprehensive only coverage on it. Basically just enough insurance in case a tree falls on it or something (right HockeyDad?!). It was like $13/mo for that coverage so it was cheaper to do that than pay the fine. Just stop in at a DMV and ask your questions...

Re: Douglas county
On a similar note, I just found two sets of '73 license plates in real good shape. I can put them on my 73, right? I have the collector plates now, so if I put these on, will I have to have emissions done?

Re: Douglas county
You can use year of manufacture plates. You have to keep a current set of plates registered & register your old plates with the state. You can only display your year of manufacture plates on the way to club events, car shows, or occasional leisurely drives. http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite?bl ... inary=trueThere is a little more info here that Chris found, about 1/2 way down the page viewtopic.php?f=25&t=5259&p=48254&hilit=1939#p48254

Re: Douglas county
Great! Thanks! I found these two sets at an antique store. Only paid $5 for each set. Anyone need a set since I bought both?

I'll grab the set you don't need, thanks. Are you going to the next breakfast?

I am going to be moving a bunch of stuff from my Sedalia house to my new old Cap Hill place that weekend, but I will be driving up Santa Fe so maybe I'll stop in.

And I'm always in antique stores (remember I am I think the only female here:) so I will also keep my eyes out for nice sets of plates.
