The last couple of months have been spent scouting and prepping for our annual 2 week hunting trip for elk. I have an Uncle and Cousin in California that comes out for the muzzy season while his son and I hunt elk with a bow.
We were "into" elk multiple times and each had some close encounters through the times. Mine eventually fell together one evening on this 5x5.

It was turning hot and dry so I hunted a water hole that scouting had uncovered and he came in 5 mins before legal light ended. The practice paid off and a perfect double lung hit at 40 yards was the result.

Though the pack out was relatively easy compared to some of the others I had done, we still didn't get back to camp until 1:30 AM.Saturday Morning. The trip wrapped up Sunday night , packed up Monday and arrived home at about 2 to finish the processing and are now settling back into a "normal Life" for a few weeks until waterfowl starts ramping up !

Thanks all. There are plans for some jalapeno and cheese summer sausage, Some snack sticks and jerky. I'll be ordering the supplies for those soon :) I'll be catching up on the forum happenings when the avalanche of work I am currently digging out from subsides a bit. this is the pain part of having 2 weeks off.
