Probably a stupid question but is there a way to adjust (shorten) the wiper arm on the passenger side so that the wiper blade doesn't contact the lower windshield trim thus destroying wiperblades? I'm using stock blades so I'm not sure why this is an issue all of a sudden... maybe it's always done it?

Good time for a Cherokee wiper arm conversion.

That's odd, the original arms used short, like 12" or less, wipers.

I suspect you've got either non-stock blades or non-stock arms. Or both. The wipers on my rig couldn't hit the bottom of the windshield if they wanted to.

I have the Cherokee conversion and use it with 14" blades.

I take a 1/8" off the blade on the passenger side so it clears the bottom of the windshield gasket

Seemed odd to me... ordered the wiper arm replacements from WH and they clip right on but it looks like the passenger side arm is a bit longer than the driver side. I'de like to convert to something that lets me run better wiper blades so I'm all ears on this Cherokee swap you speak of

The conversion involves getting a set of wiper arms off of the rear hatch of a jeep Cherokee and then cutting them shorter.

Once you do this, you can use a 13" or 14" blade.

I have a set of arms you can have for 20 bucks.

Why the conversion? I have stock wipers and went to O'Reilly's auto parts, they had them in stock for cheap (like $9 each) and even put them on in the parking lot.

The Cherokee arm swap allow you to run better wiper blades (larger & modern design) and they increase the down pressure of the blade so it cleans better.

Just as Kinder says, they are an outstanding upgrade; the disc brakes to stock Bronco wiper's drum brakes if you will.

Many years ago I had the solid extension on a factory arm come loose, it hit the windshield frame like you are describing, shortly before it got tossed onto the side of the road by the sweep.
