 Best Handheld CB? I'm not currently planning to put a fixed CB system in the Bronco but in hopes of doing some group trail runs soon, I'm looking at getting a handheld CB unit.
I have looked at Midland 75-822 40 Channel CB-Way Radio as a well reviewed option. Anyone have experience with this particular one?
Any other good recommendations?

Re: Best Handheld CB? Just buy an old style "Emergency" CB, magnet mount antenna and 40 channels. Usually can be had for $15 to $20 on eBay. I have a GE "Help!" radio, vey compact and easy to use.

Re: Best Handheld CB? Funny, I didn't read your post thoroughly and I came here to suggest the 75-822, then re-read your post.
I don't use a CB much anymore since switching to HAM, but when I do need to use one, I go back to the 822. (I have several other units as well)
It has been a good unit thus far and I like having the NOAA channels as well. The best part is the ability to use it in the truck with the adapter or throw the battery pack on to step out and help spot someone via radio.

Compatibility with people who already have them?
I've been pretty impressed with the little Family Radio Service (FRS) and General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) band radios.
They don't have nearly the interference problems CB radios have.

Re: Best Handheld CB? Most off road folks have CBs, it's a common baseline. FRS or GMRS is a close 2nd. 2m or HAM is next on the list.

Re: Best Handheld CB? Have you thought about using a Garmin Rino? It picks up CB channels and also is a GPS. I've got one and I can talk to pretty much anyone if I carry it. It has 22 channels and like 9 squelch channels per.
