Hi my name is Valentino. I am looking for a Bronco (Prefer 73-77 but am flexible) and I would like some help and opionions to make sure I make a good buy. I don't know much about them but I want a Dana 44.(the less parts I have to swap the better). I started wanting a SUV while I was taking Astronomy with Mike Madson at Pikes Peak Community College and he said this winter was going to be a bad one.I didn't know what I wanted till I seen Frankcastles red Bronco.(So thanks to him i am addicted to broncos). So any help would be much appreciated thanks.

Welcome! You've found the right place to get good local advice on the classic Bronco for sure. You'll even get offers from guys to go check them out with you or even alone if one you're looking at one that isn't in your area. Keep us posted on any you are interested it. Have you found any that are potentials?

What airbur said. In addition, if you're not already keep any eye on the Broncos for sale section. Just about everything that comes up on Craigslist will turn up there, often with feedback from others that have already seen the truck. There are some really good finds out there, but you have to pile through a bunch of really rusty overpriced trucks to find it. Also, post up what kind of truck (what you'll do with it, desired mods, etc) and that will help us suggest what to look for to fit your needs. Welcome!

Welcome! Like airbur and Justin said you will get tons of help from people here. Hopefully your not looking for creature comforts (you mentioned wanting an SUV first) as these rigs are lacking in the luxuries of most modern SUVs but you wont find a more fun 4x4! Like Justin said, keep an eye on the Broncos for Sale section here. I try to check craigslist every few days and post Denver-ish area Broncos, where are you at anyways?

Welcome to the Club - happy you found us. Luckily, there are quite a few for sale right now. Let us know how we can help in your search. You may want to watch for Broncos in Utah and Wyoming as well as Colorado.

Welcome to the addiction! Like others have said there are some great deals out there on both sides of the spectrum. Rust buckets that need work and built trucks that don't need much work.

Also, check out classicbroncos.com. If you're willing to travel you can get some good deals on there too.

Thank you every one for the bronco welcome.I don't have any potentials yet and I really like the comments on the ones I was looking at.(saved me allot of time)What I want is something that I dont have to switch allot of the basic parts(dana 44,manual,)and yet not done so i can add my vision to it.So i guess some were between a fixer upper and done(but i don't want one were i have to poor an extream amount of money into it).Frankcastle got a real good deal so something like that.I live in Colorado Springs and i would like this to be a daily drive and also to take it camping.

I got a great deal on my truck, but EVERYTHING is more than I expected. Another time, I would be tempted to buy one that was totally completed. You never get back what you sink into it and buying a restored Bronco would help control the final cost. A good example is replacing my front fenders - wasn't planning on it and out another $400.00. However, I wouldn't trade what I am learning for anything. Did I just complicate things? lmao

OK, so if you're looking for a truck that will be mostly street/light wheeling driven, find one that is stock height with 31"ish tires or with a 3.5" lift and 33s. You will save a ton of money if you can find a truck with many of the parts you want on it. The EB I got a month ago has a big bearing 9" rear housing with a Currie nodular iron 3rd member, ARB air locker and Currie 31 spline axles. This is at least $1500 worth of parts, especially if you have to have someone else do the diff setup. The total cost of the extras on my truck would be at least another $2000 beyond that and would push having my truck the way I want it out several years. I'm currently spending my money fixing the stuff that I've found wrong with it. I had saved up enough for a front disc conversion but spent the money on a new wiring harness because the PO had done some really creative wiring. Budget for stuff like this, and plan to spend the first 6 months just fixing stuff. Hopefully you'll get lucky and not have to, but better to have a pleasant surprise than a rude one. Either way, enjoy the search. Its a great way to get to know the particular quicks of early Broncos.

Definitely look at this EB. Looks to be a screaming deal if it isn't thrashed.

From the looks of that red Bronco (all the included pictures), it doesn't appear to be in that great of condition. It has some extensive body repair that has been done, and more that is needed. Looks like it has been wheeled pretty hard in the past. Also, the full cage he mentioned is not a typical cage, the rear seat has 2 large storage boxes next to it and the seat looks about 1/2 the size it should be.

Definately one to look at but I wouldn't get your hopes up. I would say that is more like a $4500 or less Bronco.

We're (Valentino and I) investigating the Bronco listed in the classifieds in Cheyenne, WY. Going to be a little difficult with the distance, but I've asked the guys over on CB.com for a spotter local to the area. Looks to be a promising purchase if the body is not too trashed and the seller has a slew of extra parts to sweeten the deal.

If anyone in Fort Collns commutes in that direction and could possibly lend a hand with spotting, it would be appreciated.
