Post Clutch Equalizer Pivot Question
Hello Guys - this weekend my bronco broke down. It lost the cotter pin (40+ years old?) that connects the clutch equalization bar and the rod.

Question = is there a washer or disk that needs to be installed before the new cotter pin is inserted in the hole? My shop manual doesn't show one, but this seems odd to let the cotter pin rub against the bracket.
Any ideas?

Rick

My Bronco only has the cotter pin. There is no washer or disk, but when I replaced the clutch I did notice it looked like the cotter pin was rubbing and I went ahead and replaced it as it looked pretty frail.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll find a thin disk at True Value and insert it between the pin and bracket. This should, if anything, act as a sacrificial wear point.

Yeah I think that's a really good idea. It certainly can't hurt. I've also taken to carrying a variety pack of cotter pins, c-clips and other weird little parts in my Bronco just in case one breaks.
