Re: What can I realistically expect from the 170?
Justin, I like how you upgraded GF to "hot". I'm pretty sure SO's don't allow that upgrade.

Re: What can I realistically expect from the 170?
My wife likes to tell me about our kids closets after she reorganizes them. I usually look at her and say "you realize I'm humoring you, right?" This is probably why she won't let me have a hot girlfriend. Either that or it's the ever-evolving oil stains in the back of her minivan from hauling greasy truck parts.

I was kind of praying for this thread to die...but it has now resurrected itself and gotten pretty entertaining.
Let the ribaldry continue!!

Re: What can I realistically expect from the 170?
There you go - just buy the current GF one for Christmas
Yeah - that will work, as long as there is some jewelry in the glove box....

Re: What can I realistically expect from the 170?
A Bronco for her for Christmas would be the fastest way for me to become single again. Plus then I'd have 3 girlfriends needing my money, time and attention...

Re: What can I realistically expect from the 170?
Well girlfriends and new mistresses (Broncos) aside. I'm finally going to do a compression test tomorrow and plug up the vacuum lines to see what's up with my 170. Then at least I'll know and I can plan to empty my wallet accordingly

Re: What can I realistically expect from the 170?
Well plugging the vacuum lines did help, but it's still sluggish up hills. Here are the results of a compression test:
1 - 92 PSI 2 - 91 PSI 3 - 91 PSI 4 - 91 PSI 5 - 75 PSI :( 6 - 90 PSI
So I suppose one cylinder with low compression is probably not helping. I also need to check timing and the jetting on the carb.

Re: What can I realistically expect from the 170?
Those numbers look low, although I'll admit not knowing what factory specs were for this altitude. My 302 came in at 110 across all the cylinders give or take a few psi.

Re: What can I realistically expect from the 170?
They could be low. I honestly don't know. It probably needs a rebuild.

Re: What can I realistically expect from the 170?
Yep, doing some quick research, that is awfully low so I think it's time for a rebuild. Anyone have any recommendations for someone who can do it for a reasonable price?

I'm dropping of TFB's 351w to a independent builder soon, I'll ask if he will a do straight 6.
