Questions on a 351w
So, might have a line on a 96 F-250 with a 351w and the 5speed. For sure I'll be picking up the 5 speed as it's a good price. The guy is willing to sell the entire truck cheap. Curious how long it would take to pull the engine and the 5 speed. My neighbors won't like it if I have junk truck sitting in my driveway (nor will my wife). Thinking if I pick this up on Saturday, could I get the entire thing hauled off on Tuesday? Or how fast could I sell a F-250 without the trans and motor on CL? The original plan was to stuff the Explorer motor I have sitting here in after I finish the body work that was deemed needed when attempting to put the body lift in for said motor. I'm figuring between the Explorer motor and the 351w, I could put together everything I need except the lower intake and the collar need. I could then sell off any of the other parts to help offset the costs. The only other issue is I don't have a trailer but I'm sure I could find one of those by Saturday. Thanks to all here who are completely enabling me and won't look at me like I'm by even suggesting this idea.

Re: Questions on a 351w
I would think you could get the engine & trans pulled over the week end no problem.
Could you just park it in the driveway and wait to pull them until you were ready to sell the leftovers ?

Re: Questions on a 351w
I will buy the 351W if you do not use it.
i think you might be sitting on that truck for a few weeks until the right person comes along that wants to put a Diesel in it or you have to scrap it.. but i think you should buy it :)

Re: Questions on a 351w
If the truck is in decent shape it up on craigslist for $400. scap prices are junk so yoU might get $100 from a scrap yard.

Re: Questions on a 351w
Ok, I got the wife's approval to deal with it for a few days. Now I need a trailer. I have a 3/4 ton truck to tow it with.
Zoso - I would actually probably be willing to let the truck go after I grab the engine and tranny for less then $400 just to get out of the driveway.

Re: Questions on a 351w
If you end up scrapping it, I may be interested in the side mirrors depending if they match my 96 F150. Could potentially be interested in bumpers if they fit as well. Let me know if you start parting it out...

Re: Questions on a 351w
Well, worked it out and the guy is going to yank the engine and transmission for me. Still getting a great deal for both and consuming more space in the garage. Need to get cracking on the body work.

Re: Questions on a 351w
So, plans change once again. The guy is delivering the entire truck for free. Guess I need to throw an engine pulling party. Will post pictures later today when it here.

Re: Questions on a 351w
OBD2 has 104 pin PCM connector, EEC-IV is only 60.

Re: Questions on a 351w
Likely OBD1 as I am nearly certain that is what mine has.

Re: Questions on a 351w
OK, got it back in the garage and separated the transmission. What from the engine do I need to keep? Kind of assuming I can take everything from the intake up off. Anything from the front dress that I need? I have a complete 5.0 from a 96 explorer that I will be utilizing. Assuming I should go with the GT40 heads off the 5.0.
Want to start the tear down so I can get the extra parts out of my garage.
Thanks!
