For those of you that have put a 5.0 Exploder engine in your EB without a body lift what tricks are you using to get the hood to close? There looks to be all kinds of interference.

With a 5.0 and stock motor mounts you should only need to reposition the power steering reservoir.

Thanks guys! I need to do something for the intake as well as the stock Explorer intake tube is hitting as well. Glad to hear it is nothing major though, when I looked I thought it might be more.

Use a '96 or early '97 throttle body if you have clearance issues there. The TPS is shorter.

Dodge Neon type coil packs can replace the Explorer packs.

They have male HEI style plug wire connections that come out on the sides.

I thought I had the coil packs but ran into interference with the fuel rail. Where did you move them to? I was simply lowering them and it didnt work as planned. Anyone able to grab a quick picture of good spots for both the coil pack and ps res?

Thank you Viperwolf. I got the coil packs by moving down and driver. Just clears everything. Getting closer. Now that huge oil neck and then throttle body. Looks like you are running no EGR with no elbow in the intake. I didnt have EFIguy flash for no EGR but looks like that may be the way to go for clearance.

Are you using the explorer valve covers? The oil neck is HUGE. I took Viper and Rox's advice and ordered some fox body mustang valve covers, much shorter oil filler.

Still have the explorer valve covers on. You are right though, that thing is HUGE!

There are some out there that do not have the vertical ribs inside. Depending on which rockers you have, you might need to find a set of those or clearance a set like this.

Obviously some touch up paint required but the ECU box is in. As simple as it seems for some reason I have been kind of dreading it so I'm glad it is done.

One thing you may want to do that Garry suggested to me is drill a hole in the back of the box and put a rubber grommet in it from inside the cab where the electronic connection on the back of the ECU is. Makes it easy to connect a quarter horse if needed for tuning.

It's routed though the spacer only. Just like the fox body egr.

Well crap, I assumed the explorer egr valve would fit the new spacer but no dice.

EGR? you don't need no stinking EGR!
