I was looking at windshield bracing online and realized if you buy a "kit" from any of the online vendors you are getting screwed. The "kits" they sell are anywhere from 35-65 dollars from what I found. I thought I would tell anyone interested how to get the same "kit" for 5-15 dollars. Here goes:
1. Go online and look at windshield bracing and realize they are selling you 2 turnbuckles 4 bolts and 2 nuts for 50 dollars.
2. Go out to your Bronco and measure the distance between the top for your windshield frame and the side of your cage.
3. Head to your local hardware store and find 2 double eye turnbuckles. Make sure they are the correct length to give you some adjustability between your windshield and your cage.
4. Find 4 bolts that will fit through the eye of the Turnbuckle. I used 1/4" -20 x1 bolts.
5. Find 2 nuts to fit the bolts.
6. I had one, but if you don't buy a 7/32 drill bit.
At this point your out 5-15 dollars.
7. Find one of the holes in the top of the windshield frame and bolt the turnbuckle to the windshield using 1 of the bolt and nuts.
8. Adjust the turnbuckle until it is centered on the side of your cage and mark and drill a hole.
9. Bolt the other side of the turnbuckle to your roll cage and Tighten everything down.
10. Adjust your turnbuckle until your door opens and closes without obstruction from the windshield.
11. Repeat on the other side.
12. Use the 45-35 dollars of savings and buy some steak and beer and have great dinner.
