I bought the front dress (serpentine) for my OLD engine off of an Explorer, How do I know if it's Standard or Reverse rotation...and does that effect anything???
What's the purpose?

All explorer is reverse rotation. I don't believe you can get a standard rotation for the explorer.

As far as I know, the SERP routing didn’t change from 96-01, and they all ran in the opposite direction of the v-belt water pumps.
V-8 explorer serp water pumps and timing covers are identifiable because they don’t have a hole or mounting place for a mechanical fuel pump in them. Here’s a pic of a V-8 Explorer timing cover and w-pump off of a 2001.
