Door Locks

Postby TOOLMAN » Tue Jul 10, 2018 12:09 pm

I have a door lock that is stuck that will not unlock. If you use the key or try to pull up on the lock from the inside, it gets hung up halfway, just before it unlocks. Does anyone know any tricks on how to remedy the situation?

No tricks, pull the door panel from the inside and apply a generous amount penetrating oil to all moving parts. Then check that all the various rods are still in position, and once open oil the latch itself.

I got lucky with a similar situation by pushing on the door from the out side & pulling the lock rod up at the same time.
Once I got it open I did just what kinder said and lubed the heck out of it worked fine after that.

I got it last night. Sprayed some lube in the lock from the outside and it popped.

Thanks for the responses fellas!

Not sure it’s appropriate or relevant but I’d get this issue bad in freezing winter so in a pinch I gobbled some wheel bearing grease on everything including the post of the interior door handle and never had an issue since... Broncos can be a lot like M1 Garands... more grease fixes a lot til you have time to sort it out
