I cant seam to find a plug for the ports at the back of my Typhoon intake for my 351.

Also, do you just connect a tube/hose between these ports for better cooling?

Yeah I would say 3/8" NPT or 1/2" NPT. I think my intake took a 3/8 NPT.

I believe the general consensus is you do not need to put a tube between them for better cooling....it doesn't seem to help.

3/8" NPT is what I thought too... but it only screws in like less than 1 turn. I have delt with pipe before and this isnt right. It also looks like the thread count on the intake is higher than the 3/8 NPT.

That looks like 27 tpi but I think 1/8 NPT is the biggest you can get in 27 tpi. Might take a thread pitch gauge to it and make a hardware store run to see what you can find.

Ok, so I got the 3/8" NPT fittings in. Turns out the Chineese aren't too great with their tapping skills..

The next question I have is can someone post pics of the back of their intake and the PCV routing. I know the hole in the back is for the pcv, but I dont know where it goes to? Also what about the venting for each valve cover, ports on the upper intake, port on the TB, and EGR pulmbing. I had my system working before, but I'm sure it wasn't right.... there is a lot of what looks to be oil in the upper intake. ...also there was a little oil on the threads of the spark plug when I pulled it. See the thread diagnosing the spark plug.

PCV valve is plumbed into the upper at 2 points in this stock pic. Some oil can be pulled through the PCV to the upper, especially if the baffle is missing.

Valve covers need to be completely closed except for a vent line going to the throttle body. The air going into the crankcase needs to be measured by the MAF.

EGR cooling comes from one of the rear water taps and goes to the heater return line. You can see how I connected the 2 taps together to provide EGR cooling and help coolant flow through those rear ports.

Phil... questions.

1- Can i just tie the to rear ports together and then tie into the heater return? This will help my cooling, correct? Is there a better place to tie the 2 rear ports into, other than the heater return?

2- My valve covers each have a port on them? So I just cap one side, then have another pcv in the other? ..or do I not use a pcv in the valve cover? My valve covers do not have the tall neck like yours.

3- Isn't that oil being sucked into the motor a bad thing? The inside of my old intake is like BLACK in places. Even the intake runner on the heads is black for the first 30% or so.

4- My new intake has ports all over it. The large one on the bottom of the upper intake, a large one and 2 small ones at the end of the large plenum part of the upper intake, and one small one on each side of the main runner just after the TB. What are all these for? Sounds like the only one I need is the one on the bottom the the upper intake? Oh, does the pcv from the middle in the back of the lower intake have to be plumbed to 2 ports on the upper... like seen in your last pic? Or is one port enough??? ...why 2?

1) Yes. The theory is that it helps cooling but I don't know for sure. Heater return is probably the best place because it would create good flow from the pressure difference.

2) I would use the PCV in the lower intake and run a hose from a valve cover hole (the one under the upper manifold) to the throttle body vent. You can gut a PCV valve to attach the hose.

3) Yeah it's not a good thing but most engines do that to some extent. Causes range from lack of a baffle under the PCV valve to excessive blowby. I recommend using the PCV in the lower intake for this reason. You already know you're getting oil through the old one.

4) I'm not sure why Ford did that with the PCV but every one I've seen was like that. I'd plumb it like the factory did to be safe. I ended up plugging a bunch of unused ports. Just left PCV, fuel pressure regulator. C4 and one for EGR and canister purge.
