So a couple of weekends ago I had a little mishap at the lake. To make a long story short, I slipped and fell backwards into the lake. This wouldn't have been too bad except my IPhone was in my pocket. I immediately found out that they are not partial to water. I tried all of the home remedies like putting it in a bag of dry rice, etc. I called AT&T to upgrade and they told me I would have to give up my unlimited data plan to get another phone, I politely told them to KMA.

If anyone has one in a drawer they are not using, I'd be interested in buying it. I would like either a 3G or 3GS. I would consider another type of phone but all of my chargers and cradles are apple so I'm really not wanting to replace all of that too.

You dont have to give up your unlimited data. since you had it before you are grandfathered in. I got to keep mine when I switched to the Atrix. You just have to call tech support and talk to them.

It is likely too late, but did you try putting it in uncooked rice?

I don't know how things work with iPhones but with my blackberry I just get another one (off of ebay or CL) and stick my SIM card in and go............I am on AT&T for work.

I suppose AT&T has to do something to the iPhone so you could use it which gives them the opportunity to stick it to you ?

I got tired of AT&T poor phone service and slow internet connectivity so I switched to Verizon for family plan.

The main problem I've heard of with international calling on those is that reception gets terrible when the string is wet.
