Got the water jet cut dash pieces from the fabricator last night and checked the fit. A number of the holes needed a bit of massaging with a file, but it seems to be as-expected fit-wise. Now it goes to the powdercoater in Colorado Springs to get a coat of crinkle-finish black powder on it.

I should have gotten a Ph.D. Those guys have all kinds of time to work on Broncos!

This thing is coming together FAST. What are you doing next summer? I'll just drop my Bronco off and pick it up, what, 2 weeks later? icon biggin

Looking great.

Well now - that is one pretty rig. Love the dash - I have a question tho - what are the 2 long holes with the radiused ends for?

Heh. It is finally coming along. Things will slow down next week tho. School starts.

The rounded hole between the gauge and switch holes is for the Vintage Air streamline control unit. The one above it is just for decoration and ties into the same size and shape hole in the glove box door.

Nothing like a white grill contrasted against a darker body color. Reminds me of my old 66.

Got the dash panels back from the powdercoater... I think this'll do well...

And a close up to show the texture... pretty standard crinkle finish:

Now I just need to engineer the hinge system for the glove box since the stock hinges won't work anymore.

Engine and trans are married now and ready to go in. Looks like Sunday if anyone wants to drive south and lend me a hand.

It looks like my HF 1T shop crane will JUUUUUUST clear the core support if I take the wheels off and rest the front axle tubes on cinderblocks.

Engine and trans went in today. Had to buy a 2-ton shop crane to get enough reach, but the three of us got it in with minimal issue.

And holy crap does that Explorer front dress give back a bunch of room between the fan and radiator. I went from having nearly no room by the time I cleared the AC compressor clutch to probably needing to extend my fan shroud a bit.
