Made the Move

Postby ak68 » Sun Dec 29, 2013 5:17 pm

Finally got to Grand Junction and bought a house just before Thanksgiving. About 5 weeks later my 68 bronco and our belongings showed up. I am a happy camper now that the unpacking and getting moved in is pretty much done. You can see the specs on my bronco on ClassicBroncos under the same user name. I still have a lot of work to do on it. Paint will be first since it really needs it. Thanks for the forum and the connections.

Paint! Who needs paint? Get that mother on the trail/road, if its not already?

Congrats on the move, welcome to our beautiful state!

You need paint so you can get it scratched going through brush and scraped off on rocks :-)

Welcome! What brought you here? Have inlaws who live in Soldotna, so am pretty familiar with the area. I LOVE AK!

Welcome to Colorado.

I'm in Gunnison, down US 50 about 2 hours. There aren't many club members here on the western slope. If you are coming through, let me know.

Hopefully we can get some guys out to Ouray this summer for a weekend.

My wife and I always loved the 4 corners area and gradually chose Junction as a good balance. We are retired and left Alaska after 20+ years. Montrose was a contender for a retirement place but didn't have enough amenities for my wife. So far Junction is great especially since a bronco friendly fab shop (Battlement Fabrication) is only 10 minutes away. I have a 3.5 inch wild horses lift plus a 1.5 inch body lift. This worked well for my EFI setup and tranny install. I would like to get better articulation and Clint's shop can help once I save enough funds for the work.

Montrose has always been on my list. An outdoorsman's paradise... But not so good for my wife either. Maybe I'll just get a cabin on some property nearby someday??

Welcome! We'll need to get out your way and do some club wheeling one day.

Sounds good on some western Colorado club wheeling. Mine should go and stop well, but the articulation, gearing, and driver skill will be the limiting factors.
