Grampa's Hotrod

Postby Rox Crusher » Sat Mar 25, 2017 12:27 pm

I thought I had started a specific build thread for this project but I guess not.

It's a 57 Fairlane 500 2 door hardtop. It was my father-in-law's favorite car and he had many.

My wife inherited it while back and it seems to have languished since I removed the 352 FE and 3 speed.

I have finally settled on a 428 FE with C6 auto for the drivetrain. Just didn't seem right putting EFI in this era hot rod.

This is what it looked like when we first got it.

Here is the oily grimy 428 I found in Kent, WA.

It is reported to be all original and never been apart so hopefully it makes a good donor.

The plan is for a mild rebuild with a carb.

I happen to have a nice billet MSD or Mallory dizzy & ignition set for that motor if you're interested, the price will be right.

That's just like the car I learned to drive with. Looks like a fun project.
