Garry, Jeff, & Rob came over for Chick-fil-A this morning. Then this happened. Turns out, I didn’t have everything needed to finish, but we will get it ready for the Platte River lunch on the 10th.

Also Rob helped get the trans cooler lines built and installed. Down to a driveshaft and exhaust once the rear springs are finished up.

I also forgot to rub something in. The old leaf springs came off without needing to cut any of the bolts. Buddy rules!

I’ve never seen a set of spring hardware come out that easy. Your truck amazes me.

Finished installing the new springs. I’m guessing they added about 4”-4.5” compared to the stock springs. I had lift blocks on the rear and the new springs raised it about 1”-1.5” over how it was sitting before.

Thanks to a long day with Jeff, Garry, and John yesterday, we are almost ready to roll. The lift is installed, exhaust fits better than it ever has, Garry fixed a wiring error of mine, and we figured out my hubs have some issues. I’m dropping off the driveshaft to get cut down tomorrow, new hubs will be here Wednesday, and then I’ll finish topping off fluids on Thursday.

We got to hear it run for the first time in several months. So pumped to go for a drive later this week.

Huge thanks to everyone that’s helped with the 4r70w swap, especially Garry for getting me a new trans harness so quickly.
We got to go for a ride today. The new spring make a HUGE difference in the ride. I’ve got 3.50 gears and it seems like it is hunting for gears a little, but I may just need to stretch it’s legs a little more. Or there’s a gearing change in my future. Either way, right now I’ve just got some wiring to clean up and a few minor adjustments to make.

Mine isn't useful until about 60mph but I'm at 4.56 on 37s. Turns 1800 or 2k rpm at that speed, which is quiet and lovely (for a trail EB)

In an effort to get rid of the play in my steering, I’ve jumped down the drag link/tie rod rabbit hole. Got the old linkage out, and attempted to read the knuckles on the truck…oops. Sorry Garry, I owe you a new reamer.

So, time to take off the knuckles. While I’m there, might as well exchange the c-bushings and radius arm bushings for some new poly ones. The look much nicer, the 47 yr old. rubber bushings have seen better days. When we got the front axles out, it was very obvious that the u-joints are shot. So that’s on the list now. While I have the axles out, I might as well regear right?
