I was at 4 wheel parts buying a new Odyssey and I told the guy it was for my Bronco. He pulled his phone and showed me a picture of BSD and told me it was the craziest Bronco he had ever seen in a parking lot. I told him that the owner and Mad Scientist who built it was is a friend of mine. Looks like you've got some secret admirers at 4 wheel parts.

Ha, I can’t hide anymore. I was up there buying a new drop hitch if it was a recent picture. With the addition of the D60 and 37s my old hitch wouldn’t work with my little utility trailer that I was keeping the camper on.

It’s crazy that bigger tires and axles can make the fenders almost look white!! I’m sure you get lots of lookers when your out and about.

While trying to overcome my sadness on not being able to make the wheeling trip this weekend I decided to pull out all my junk that l’ve set aside for the front axle upgrade on BSD. Now I just need to find some time between family, school and work to get it started, I’ll probably just shove it all in the corner, wish me luck.

Will do, when I get to the part where I try to get it under the Bronco I’d appreciate the help.

Found a few minutes to tear the D60 down a bit more; hubs, spindles, axles and diff out. New high steer arms with integrated springless kingpin adjustment installed (the stock spring loaded bushing/bearing tension system doesn’t work with big tires) and I also mocked up the tie rod. Next is ARB and gear change, while continuing to massage the C wedges into shape.

BSD did it’s annual parks volunteer work, used the winch to pull out two telephone poles that were stringers for a pedestrian bridge. I’ll guess they weighed around 750-1000 lbs each. This will be the third bridge I’ve replace at Roxborough. I’m grateful that Jake, a VOC volunteer, helps me with them, he’s been doing this kind of work for 60 years and is a great mentor.

All the hunters with street tires, it was a sloppy mess getting in before the season started. Luckily it started to dry out when we were leaving.

If I never do another D60 ARB install it’ll be too soon, of course I still have the rear axle to do, ha.

And how many adapters does it take to go from 1/4” drive to 3/4” drive so I can check the pinion preload? The same number of licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop, three.

I am about to impart some very vague and uninformed wisdom..........

the O-rings on the ARB in my 9" diff started leaking during our last wheeling trip. leaking so bad the locker wouldn't stay engaged and the compressor stayed running forever and pushed a bunch of oil out of the diff. My ARB probably only have 15k miles on them.

I was talking to Jason about it and he said that Spidertrax had (may still have?) some upgraded o-ring / sealing solution to prevent this.

I haven't had time to look into it further but will be doing so over the winter

probably not critical on the front since carrier isn't always spinning but the rear is another story

My O-ring on my rear start leaking in Baja as well. Doesn’t sound as bad as Jeff’s but it was pushing oil up through the solenoid.

I’d be interested in knowing what this upgrade is as I will probably look to fix it later this winter as well.

Please share the results, I just put an ARB in Willem’s 9” this last year. I can say the seals are the same design regardless of differential type, but the setup is completely different.

Rox & Eck, how long (years and/or months) have you been running them before the leak started?
