Re: Rox Crusher's 77 sport
I have been really busy at work so I had Kirk install the lockers and gears.
We took a risk and installed some used gears which are howling a bit (in the rear-end) so we will swap them out for new ones after Moab.
Gotta get the compressor installed today / tomorrow so I can actually use them.
The 4:88 gears have turned out to be the perfect match for my 4R70W overdrive tranny and 33" tire combo. RPMs are perfect.
Now I just need to start adjusting the shift points in the controller.

Re: Rox Crusher's 77 sport
Finally found some time to install the 4.5" springs up front.
It raised the front up pretty good, more than desired I think.
Left front went from 28-13/16" to 30-1/8" (1-5/16").
Right frint went from 28-15/16" to 30-1/4" (1-5/16").
We'll see how far they settle next spring after they have packed the plow around all winter.
Also got to put chassis saver in the spring coil cups, which I missed when we did the chassis.

Re: Rox Crusher's 77 sport
I've been busy coming up with a better and more reliable way to attach the plow mounting system.
Had to cut the mounts for the lights off so I can locate them farther forward to clear the hood.
Meanwhile, I really love my new welder.

Re: Rox Crusher's 77 sport
It's coming together nicely, can't wait to put it to the test though.
I lucked out and found a receiver hitch in our trash / recycling center so I was able to cut off a 2' section of it, cut the bottom off, and slide it over the top of the 2" tubing cross member mounted between the frame rails. Then I just welded the plow hoop to it.
So, I will now be able to take the 4 bolts off to remove / install it.
Next step is to figure out a way to lower the fixed / pivoting end of the plow so the attack angle is more parallel to the ground. Last year it didn't take much to trip the springs which allows the plow blade to fold forward too easily. Might need new springs, or more of them.

Re: Rox Crusher's 77 sport
Took the intake and heads off the 351 donor today.
Cylinders all look good (the portion I could see anyway).
Valves looked good too.
It looked like it was starting to burn a bit of oil but so far so good.
Tomorrow I'm going to drop the pan and see what the bottoms end has in store for me.

Re: Rox Crusher's 77 sport
Flipped it over and removed oil pan. All is well in there.
Going to skip it down so I can get it off to a machine shop
BTW, I haven't really decided how it will be built. Mild and reliable is what I'm going for.

Re: Rox Crusher's 77 sport
Tore the 351w down today.
Didn't break a single bolt or anything.
All the bearings and pistons are original and no abnormal wear detected.
Best of all is that all of the cylinders and crankshaft and rod bearing journals are in great shape !
I was expecting to find some disaster based on how sludgy the oil in the bottom of the pan looked.
Off to the machine shop for some more horsepower !
