74 explorer.
Well I have my very own 74 now. Big thanks to Dan for finding this awesome score. It's a little rough but has a lot of potential. The tub/cab is pretty rust free. Only rust I can find in the quick look over is the inner fenders, tailgate, and windshield frame. First things first is gonna see if I can get it running. then go from there. I'll get pics of it.

This is gonna be a slow build. Not gonna win any races. Just want to build a nice driver.

Re: 74 explorer.
Did some work to it today. Got the hood on straight and latching. Cut out the old nasty floor mat. The rear floor is pretty clean. Both front floor pans are trashed. Ill get some pics up soon.

Re: 74 explorer.
Not bad at all. Pretty solid all in all! You may run the plates at motor vehicles to see if they can tell you the registered owner. May help make the title issue alot easier.......may make it worse.

Re: 74 explorer.
Got the seats out today and cleaned it up. must have been 15lbs of dirt and rust in there. Also removed all that old stereo. Degreased the engine compartment cause I dont think it's ever been done. Also upon looking all the body work has been done before. The bronco was originally orange. I found that the explorer package was only available in blue or orange.

Re: 74 explorer.
I wish my door jambs were as nice as yours. Is that floor patch riveted right over the vinyl? Those wheels look like a later model F series. But I cant remember when. what are the plans? Full restoration?

Re: 74 explorer.
yea the patch was screwed in over the vinyl floor. The wheels are off some ford but I dont know what years. I wanna say early-mid 90's base model trucks and broncos.
Plans are right now to make a nice driver. Gonna start with the body and paint. Then interior. then get it running and enjoy it.

Re: 74 explorer.
Ive bought a lot of sheet metal from home depot for patching parts of my F100. It may be a bit more expensive VS a bulk sheet but time saving when you don't have to drive across town.

Re: 74 explorer.
Rob, can I make a donation to your build ?
I still have a set of almost brand new gas shocks that you can have.
They fit EBs with up to 2" of lift.
Let me know.

Re: 74 explorer.
Its amazing how much rust and dirt you find when you start cleaning one of these up...I found a bunch of muck on top of the frame rails, floor board suppports and aroumd the transmission.

Re: 74 explorer.
Started the floor pan install today. Got the passenger floor mostly cut out. Didnt get much time to work on it. Had to do a lot of running around to pick up some tools today. Gotta go fill my co2 bottle this week so I can get to welding. I need to pull the passenger rear axle out and seal it up. it's leaking all over the driveway. Happy to get started on it.

Re: 74 explorer.
Looks like you found a great stocker! Not that bad at all. Good luck with the floor pans.
If you end up trying to save your windsheild use a peice of c-channel on top of the hinge mount. Worked wonders for mine.
