Just gettin started...

Hi all, This is my second attempt at Bronco ownership...20 years apart!
I've been reading lots of your posts, and you guys sound awesome!

Had a '68, 3 and a half inch lift CUT, 33x12.5's...

Now going all LUBR up in here!
3 and a half inch used (thanks CL!) Toms Bronco Susp. lift,
16" Dodge steel wheels
1.25" spacers
235x85/16 BFG KM2 (32" tires)
Tucks up real nice!

I only rattle canned one side just to see what it looked like. Sage green, and Ivory. I think I'll use more of a cream vs. Ivory when all is said and done.

A real bargain at 1K right outa the gate! I'll try and post some pics.

...doesn't look like it will allow any pics banghead

any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

Hi There and welcome. Very exciting project and cool to have done it twice. I am excited to see your sage green paint and exciting to get any Bronco for $1,000 - especially one that drives and not in boxes. Congrats.

Great lookin Bronco. I love the sage. What's the story on the hard top color - was it a Special Edition?

Welcome! Thanks for stopping by! Sure looks like a nice rig! And a great look. That's about what I'd like to go for if'n I ever get another bronco!

As for the 16" rims, they have a very bad wrap for losing a bead on the trail when aired down. Not sure how much trail riding you plan to do, but just something to be aware of!

Thanks guys! You're too kind!

It has a white paper laminated sticker VIN tag on the rear driver's side door post that reads U15GLN49066
Doors aren't from the original, so no vin # there,
Glove box door has the tag removed,
and I couldn't find the VIN on the frame passenger side by engine bay???

Fenders, grill and hood aren't from original either I suspect?
I'm guessing nothing special since the windshield has NO chrome on it. Probably a borrowed top too.

I think the dash is from a '73 or ??? It has the 2 long horizontal slits where the dash marker lights used to live, now empty.

Thanks for the welcome, and I'm surely going to be asking for help with some electrical issues!

Mike,
Eaton,CO

I love the stance/look of your Bronco. Could you tell me a little bit more about your wheel choice? I'm guessing they are off a 1500 but what years use these and did you have to open up the center hole any? Did you have to add spacers to all four or just the front? Sorry about all the questions but I am really considering a move toward 16" wheels for my luber build and I'm pretty sure the factory Ford 16's are near impossible to find. Thanks for any info you might have.

Looks good, and the 16's will be fine, same bead as a 15" rim, it's 16.5's that have issues with blowing the bead because of the design of where the tire bead rides on the rim there isn't a whole lot there to stop it from being pushed into the center of the wheel. I really like the look of your rig, and I'd keep those wheels on it for sure they still have an old school look while looking unique at the same time

I got the steel wheels off a '94-'01 1500 Dodge. I had to use the spacers oddly enough for the REAR, they have about a 5.25" backspacing sucking them in TOO far and touching the shocks.
Theres no rub either way.
I did have to have the center lathed open 1/4" to clear the hubs up front. Some said NO, don't do that, the wheel will be too weak. Its only an 1/8" shave all the way aroung, if you get me, so there is still more metal between the lug holes and the center than my 15's.

Finally putting in some work.

I bought new inner fenders and did some deconstruction over the winter and finally finished this last weekend.

New Rt/Lt fenders to follow!

Just a short collage since I bought it a couple of years ago.

1. The way I bought it
2. Wheels/Tires Lift - Door
3. New direction on wheels
8. Grill - I was making "shrinky dinks" ornaments with my boys at Christmas and I had just got the Grill letters from Melissa @ Bronco Hut and I was curious if the melted shiny plastic would work on the letters, Well... Here ya go "Blue Oval!"

I have L O T S of parts that I plan on putting together this summer! I'll try and keep it short and interesting!

Got the engine work done a couple weeks ago. Timing gears sound sweet!!! Just like I hoped it would sound - not too loud, not too dumb :)

"Justin" - headers & mufflers sound fire fire !!! ThankYou! Also thanks to the guys in the 4 x 4 chitchat who helped me with my polyethyleneisopropylene body spacers project!!! Did stock body spacers with some great technical help from Kbank6 & BNC04/ Thank you Kevin and Brett!

Finally got around to mounting the front clip with my brand-new fenders from Bronco Hut, thanks Melissa!

I also put in a new turn signal in the column with the Smooth shift collar.

Now I have both doors off trying to put new hardware in the door hinges. They we're hella sloppy. I also used a piece from the old inner fenders to weld up a speaker hole in the passenger side door.

Next...NEW BRAKES!!! Lord help me bangtard

Another year goes by and then some!

I've been hanging out with an older, I mean seasoned gentleman who is retired. He used to run his own body shop and I go over every now and then to check on him, say hi and just shoot the breeze! I actually met him the day I brought my bronco home from Estes Park in 2011 and he offered to buy it on the spot for exactly what I paid for it! HA! He buys cars and does little minor things to fix them up and flips them in his spare time and in the last two years he's had two Broncos and I've helped him with them.
He has a shop about a mile from my house and he goes and hangs around in there every day from 8am to noon. He recently just added on a paint booth and said that when he completes it he's going to help me paint my bronco ... A really nice gesture but come on, really? DUDE! Seriously???

His shop, his tools, his time, (I am his apprentice helper) his paint booth, and I pay for all of the paint and supplies. Should be done in a month or less!!! I'll believe it when I see it icon biggin icon biggin icon biggin

...more pictures as we progress!...

That's a pretty great hookup if it comes through! And a great chance to learn from someone with lots of experience!

That's a pretty sweet deal.

I don't think there are many personal shops with a paint booth!
