Rox's 1977 Ford F150 4x4 Ranger

Picked this jewel up in Cheyenne on Friday. One owner rig purchased in The Dalles, OR but resided in CA most of it's life.

image.jpeg

Original owner fancied himself a tinkerer but pretty sloppy work based on the remnants.

Originally equipped with a 351m which owner replaced with 400m long block. I think he re-used the original heads and exhaust manifolds.

Then he installed a Holley Projection system, which he later removed. It now has an Edelbrock intake and 4 barrel carb.

He also replaced the 3:50 gears with 4:11. Detroit in the rear and Torson-Gleason limited slip up front.

It slobbers from rear main, tranny, and power steering pump.

Body is in really excellent shape although it has had some work on bed.

Going to drive it as is while cleaning up things here and there. Focused on items that will allow it to pass emissions.

We lucked out, Phil has some great info which confirms that it didn't come equipped with CAT or smog pump. I just need to figure out an EGR system.

Really like the truck, makes me want to get one myself. I think pretty soon we will need a ColoradoClassicF-Series site.

Find me a programmer or designer fluent in PHP or VBulletin and we'll make it happen.

I don't recall my 77 F20 having EGR. Originally it had a 360.

Phil and I have been cleaning up the left overs out of the engine bay and it's shaping up nicely.

So I went to the DMV to pay the sales tax and get the title processed.

The gal told me she couldn't do it without a weight slip and that I might as well come back when I had it and the emissions completed, which I wasn't planning to attempt just yet.

Well, I decided what the heck and low and behold it passed first try. They apparently didn't care that the PVC system was obviously inoperable, etc.

I think the guy who did the physical inspection was a Ford guy !

Very Nice and you have way less work than me. Mine came with a CO title, SMOG cert that had been done less than a year ago so I hope I don't have to have another one.

How about just a permanent "F series" topic? within CCB? Just my $.02

I had a pretty good idea what kind of rim it would be before I even saw the pic. LOL.

Looks good. Great truck.

I had plenty of them laying around to choose from.

Gotta get these ones cleaned up a bit.

My folks '78 Bronco had those exact same rims jeff. Unfortunately a barn fire and those mag rims are no more.

Whatta ya doin' with the old rims? That's the style I want on my bronco.

That much burning magnesium had to be spectacular, although I'm guessing you had bigger concerns at the time.

The barn had most of our stuff from our old house in one half since our new one was half the size. Close to $10k of Waterford crystal my mom collected, antiques and all of our baby stuff, etc. I was in the 4th grade, it burned so hot it melted the oven, some of the crystal and the rest shattered when the water from the fire hoses hit it. They had to tear down a fence to keep my horse from going into the barn. Pop took the tires off in the winter and ran smaller ones because the Bronco is so squirly in the snow. It has a 400 and a 4 spd. put it on ice and you better keep your mind in the middle and a leg on each side, but it still runs!

We were gone & the fire department didn't even put a note on our door it had happened. I went out the next morning to do chores & came running to the house telling my pop the barn was GONE!! it was literally just ash, nothing was left of it. Neighbor tossed a cigarette and it smoldered in the dry manure is what they said caused it.

You should try one of those cheap little handheld Harbor Freight sand blasters with walnuts!

I thought I had it bad with the Bronco............really loving the new F150.

Found a set of NOS mirrors for it and the drivers side went on nicely but the hack who installed the original one on the passenger side oversized the holes so I'm having to improvise.

New front springs with 1.5" of lift
New 179 amp alternator
New locking hubs
And of course the plow I was using on the Bronco
