Front brake conversion kits
Who has used one of the vendor/ebay front brake kits? Did you like it, does it work well? Which one did you use? Has anyone used this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966-1975-Early-FORD-Bronco-DISC-BRAKE-CONVERSION-KIT-/230589052811?_trksid=p4506.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D167861080757487190 from horsepowersales? Thanks for the input. JP

Re: Front brake conversion kits
I haven't used a kit, but am just finishing up a swap using 1978 Bronco parts. You may want to take a serious look at assembling your own kit, as you'll save a decent amount of money. I picked up everything from the knuckles out off craigslist for $75 and the only other expense were bearings, calipers, pads and seals. Probably less than $250 total. I also did my ball joints since I had it apart, but that wouldn't be included in a kit anyway. The Horespowersales kits have a good reputation over on CB.com and are often suggested as a way to save a little money. The main down side to most of the conversions is that they use Chevy parts. This isn't inherently bad, but the Ford parts swap over to a stronger knuckle with a much larger opening where the axle passes through. Way easier to do a trailside repair if you blow up an axle. If you don't 4wheel much, there isn't really a significant difference.

Thanks Justin, I'll keep it in mind about the knuckles. JP
