I'm hoping to get a new set of tires on my truck by Ouray. I put BFG ATs on when I first lifted my truck, thinking it would be more a "daily driver". I regretted it ever since then. I got an almost free set of Toyo ATs installed last year, but they were low on tread & the center wear indicators are showing. I guess I ran a little too much pressure.

I need something that will run down the highway, I use the truck to cart my dogs around & hunt, also I have to get to places like Ouray and don't have a big tow vehicle. I also drive around town (very short distances) all winter, so snow performance would be nice. I don't use the Bronco on the highway when there is snow. I'm hoping to do more serious trail/rock crawling.

I'm thinking of the BFG M/T KM2s, they are a good deal right now include a $50 Visa card & free shipping from Discount Tire. The gift card would cover getting them mounted & balanced here in town. They get good reviews for snow & highway performance.

Of course when I mentioned it to my friend that will mount & balance them, he trashed the M/Ts, said the compound was crappy & he had nothing but trouble. He was also speaking of experience with older M/Ts. I'm guessing someone will have had a bad experience with every tire if you talk to enough people.

The Visa card promo ends soon & I want to have new shoes for Ouray. I'd hate if Zilla had to kick my ass for running ATs on a lifted truck with full width axles & long radius arms.

I'm totally open to suggestions, I have no real loyalty.

Looks like the Goodyear MT/R Kevlar has a $80 rebate. That brings it into the running too.

Opinions on the Duratrack, Hankook Dynapro or General Grabber? They are all in the same price range.

I think I will go with BFG M/T's when I need new tires.

I recently put on a set of Goodyear Duratracs and I love them.

They have good road characteristics as they are relatively quiet and smooth. I had some old Goodrich mud terrains which were way noisier than anything I have ever had and I thought they had poor traction in snow and mud on the trail. Mabye the newer version is better.

Meanwhile, my Duratracs are awesome on the trail. I run mine at 15 PSI and they are very grippy and have great traction. They also have a very pronounced bead protector to keep your wheels from getting rashed.

I highly recommend them.

Wow, that was quick! I'm still waiting for lunch to reheat. My BFG A/Ts were way noisier than the Toyos. But really dropping highway rpms from 2700 to about 2400 did more for noise than the tires.

I didn't notice the Goodyear MTRs had the rebate going till just now. It actually makes the set a little less expensive than the BFGs. So I'm leaning towards the Goodyears right now. I'll probably order a set after work tonight.

I wish I could get the 35's, but I'd need taller bumpstops or a body lift. And most important, I don't think that my 3.50 gears would like them. I don't want to regear now, because I'm planning (looks like a very long term plan) on an OD auto tranny & probably 5.13 gears w/an Atlas. It'll probably take me long enough to save for the trans, Atlas, gears,etc, to wear down a set of 33's.

I just ordered a Lock Rite locker. I went cheap on the locker, because I think when I upgrade to 5.13s, I may end up on 35 spline axles, so spending tons of money on a locker wasn't in the budget.

I just bought a set of Goodyear Duratracs today, 31X10.5s. Just tooled around town today and down the highway a stretch so can't attest too much, but they look great and move down the road well. No crazy noise, handle well.....I think I will really like them.

$40 dollar rebate on top $170 deal per tire.

Don't have an opionion on tires for my/your bronco yet but the road hazard from Discount is worth every penny if you do any kind of driving at all. The guys at the local discount hate to see me pull up in my dodge 2500 because they know It is going to cost them a new tire. Jayson

Thanks to everyone weighing in on this subject. I called & ordered a set of the Goodyear MTRs from Bobby @ Discount Tire. He dropped a few bucks off the price of each tire & shipped them to me for free, just like on-line. I did go ahead & buy the replacement warranty for the tires. I figured that $114.00 (1/2 the cost of 1 tire) was worth the insurance for 3 years. Since I saved a few bucks by using Bobby, and I've got an $80 rebate coming, it was kinda freeish. I don't put tons of miles on the tires, so I won't wear them out that fast, but much of my driving is on the rocky, dirt roads around CO.

I should receive my new donuts by the end of the week.

Good choice, I like those tires.
I run Firestone destination m/t's. I love the profile of them and the tread compound. There fairly soft and clear very well, which is what I was looking for. I ran them on a old cherokee I had, and they performed great.

Looks like tomorrow might be Christmas in July for me. I should (could) receive my new tires & my new snowboard boots tomorrow. Now if only UPS would magically deliver a 357 Magnum or a nice 1911, I'd have all my favorite hobbies covered.

I can't say enough about the service B.O.B (Bobby) has given me. I would have ordered from Discount Tire, on-line, regardless, because their prices & shipping were better than any other source. He saved me a few bucks, over the on-line prices, and has kept in touch with me regarding the status of my order & shipping. It is very nice to get real service nowadays. I ran a retail/service business for 10+ years, and always made the unpleasant calls when I couldn't deliver the service or goods in a timely manner. Its funny, I realized that making a 5 minute call to a customer, telling them I was running behind on service calls or an item was out of stock, absolutely blew them away. Sometimes they were so happy I called, it seemed they were happier I was late, than if I actually showed up on time.

Unfortunately, I've become used to being left in-the-dark, regarding back orders and other order problems. Even having emails go completely unanswered by some of our better known EB suppliers. Not to mention their universally crummy webstores, not letting you know if something is even in stock or not. Why can't these guys actually keep up on their inventory, with a notice posted when something is not going to be available?

Last year, I tried to order some gun parts from a Winchester parts dealer. I had a question or two about the parts, so I emailed them the questions, I waited a week, and got no response. Because there were a very limited number of sources, I called the same company, had my questions answered, and ordered the parts in about 5 minutes. I know we live in the "digital age", but I'd rather a company not make email available, if they aren't going to answer them. Just state, "We Hate Email, Please Call Us For More Info", I can appreciate that. If there were more suppliers, I would never have called on them again.

What boots did ya get? Where do you go boardin at? I think it'd be great to do a club ski/board get together this year. Would be awesome to have a lineup of rigs in front of the slopes!

Tires arrived this morning. JD, give Bobby a call, I think he's working now, he just called me to give me the tracking numbers, but it was too late, they were already in our shop. Search Discount Tire, Parker, CO on a yellowpages site.

I got a pair of Salomon F22 boots. I'm replacing a pair of Salomon Malamutes, they were the best boots I've ever owned. They lasted over 150 days on the slopes, and I could probably have made them last another season. But they were finally getting pretty soft & I've got a heliboarding trip scheduled in AK, in March, and didn't want to be breaking in a pair of boots or using a broken down pair either. I get a pass at Crested Butte each season. I'm addicted to the steep stuff.

I'd be happy to play guide if anyone ventures up this way this winter. Since we aren't on the I70 parking lot, I mean corridor, we don't have the lift lines to deal with. Monarch resort is close to Gunnison, and a great place to take a family.
