i want to start a 3gun shooting team
Anyone Intrested. Pistol, shotgun and ar15. I've done some pistol comps and they are so fun. Was wondering if anyone wants to do this..practice maybe compete in spring summer. Maybe some ar build parties ;)

Re: i want to start a 3gun shooting team
Wish I wasn't so far away, sounds like fun. Just curious, does it have to be an AR or just a semi-auto long gun?

Re: i want to start a 3gun shooting team
I want to say semi-auto, assault type rifles are what is required.
Trei, I might be interested. My schedule being what it is, I don't know how much I would be able to participate, but I'm certainly willing to give it a go.

Re: i want to start a 3gun shooting team
Sounds interesting, I have always enjoyed shooting, but it is a long time since I have done it competitively and even longer since I shouldered a .223 (5.52mm), as in 1969 in Vietnam. What type of pistols, rifles and shotguns? I have been considering getting into action shooting but haven’t acquired the necessary firearms, yet.

Re: i want to start a 3gun shooting team
Some light reading. It's a little dated, but I think it gives a good intro.
From what I have thus far, "a safe Double action, safe action (Glock type), or single action (1911 type) pistol or a revolver, 9 mm or larger caliber, and extra magazines" is the norm.
No restrictions on shotguns by type or manufacturer as far as I can tell. I think the Remington 870 is pretty popular gun though.
If I jump in, I'd likely be carrying my DPMS M4A1 with an EoTech (limited range, I know. But ACOGs are just too damn pricey for me), either my Glock 19 or my Springfield 1911 Loaded model, and probably pick up an 870 as my Mossberg 500 was my first gun and I really don't feel like beating it up. Plus the aluminum receiver on the 500 has given us some issues down range where the 870s have not.

Re: i want to start a 3gun shooting team
That 870 Police Tac has what length barrel? Anything else special about it? Rail?
What holster are you running for your Glock? I've got a box of holsters at the house, mostly tactical. I can pick up a Safariland thigh rig with spring loaded hood for the 1911 from work if I go that route. The Glock is a different story. Mostly Blackhawk Serpas with retention buttons for those floating around. I think for 3 gun you have to be hooded in the holster though. None of that IPSC race gun rig holster stuff.
Which EoTech are you running on your long gun? Mounted on the upper receiver or forward on the handguard/heat shield?
I ran a foreward grip on my work gun for a month or so and hated it. Only thing I DID like was the recesses for the push pads for my laser and tac light.

Re: i want to start a 3gun shooting team
I run open top mag pouches and a level 1 holster uncle mikes. And the 870 has a 18 barrel houge grip. Have to put on a tube on for mo rounds...... I like quick drawing equipment. I run 4-5 GLOCK mags and for ar I would need to look at the course but 4-6

Do you have those bad boys hanging above your mantle, Dan? Doesn't happen often.
