Post Intake Manifold Bad, Engine Running Lean
So I had built up a new engine from parts off of the original 75DBE engine and the donor motor. Before mating it up to the transmission and throwing it back in the Bronco, I wanted to make sure that it ran so I took it down to Steve Mills Racing -- the guy at American Speed, who I like, was just too busy. On Friday Steve called to tell me that the Torker II intake manifold -- which I had media blasted by a guy over on Airport Road I think -- was corroded on the inside and would not seal up with the block. Water leaked out everywhere. He also said that the metal on the manifold was so thin he could have poked a screw driver through it. Makes me mad that the guy that media blasted it didn't alert me since he had a stack of 30 manifolds sitting there! Grrr...I'll never go back! So long story short, he had another Torker II manifold sitting around that he threw on it and got the engine running today. He said there was no smoke -- yippee -- but that he could not get the crab adjusted very well, yet. Said it was way too lean. Anyone have any thoughts?

What carb is it? Bought new or used? Rebuild before hand?

Honest, I can't remember what I put on there -- but it was a new Edelbrock. Now the engine guy says that he is getting water up in the carb? What is that all about. I am so confused!

Sounds to me like the intake manifold gaskets do not have a good seal on them. It's pretty easy to booger up. I'd say a poor seal on one of those gaskets is causing coolant to make it's way in to the intake. I don't know how he'd get water in to the carb, but the intake is likely.
